While everyone was posting festive and celebratory sets during the Spring Festival, I took the opposite route and shot Jormungandr from Dragon Raja. This photoshoot is by far the most unique style in my 'Dimension Spring Festival' series. To faithfully recreate the tactile presence of the character, pre-production preparation was exceptionally intricate. The black armor pieces were crafted step-by-step using EVA foam and specialty spray paints to simulate the textured layers of solid rock and dragon scales. The spikes on the pauldrons and crown were intensely sharp, requiring assistance to put on to avoid getting scratched. To highlight her non-human nature, I wore elongated elf ear props, applied battle-worn dark makeup, and specifically added body paint across the collarbones and arms to evoke a shadowy corruptive erosion.
The shooting location was an authentic gothic ruin studio set, staged with an abundance of white Roman columns, scattered skulls, and heavy black iron chains. The stark white plaster and pitch-black chains forged an intensely striking visual contrast. The outfit featured a midriff-baring cut paired with black Stockings and pointed stiletto heels, exuding a chilling, dangerous allure within such an environment. The lighting that day utilized high-contrast side-backlighting, which ruthlessly tested skin condition and prop textures. When the piercing light struck my body, the three-dimensional depth of the armor amplified instantly, while the black body markings and sharp hemlines appeared fiercely aggressive.
In terms of pose design, I integrated numerous elements that highlighted body silhouettes—such as perching on the steps of the ruins with crossed legs to carve out the contour of the legs and black Stockings under the play of light and shadow, or raising a claw prop with one hand to half-conceal my face, crafting a guarded, appraising posture. Because the garment offered minimal coverage and was paired with heavy headgear and chain props, several continuous hours of shooting became a demanding test of physical endurance.
Jormungandr in Dragon Raja is a profoundly multi-dimensional character. She embodies the dragon race's pride, danger, and coldness, yet shelters an unspeakable loneliness within. I hope this photo set not only showcases gorgeous armor and props, but also conveys her perilous, captivating essence sinking alone amidst the ruins. The entire shoot took nearly six hours, with hair, makeup, and lighting resulting from the team's relentless fine-tuning. Though utterly exhausting, seeing the final images made every moment worthwhile. As a special holiday project, this set pushed me outside my comfort zone. I hope these visuals let everyone experience a different kind of dark aesthetic, and I will continue challenging more profound characters and styles in the future.
