When shooting this set for Ch'en, my primary focus was on recreating her combat feel and fierce gaze. Before rolling, styling the bright blue wig required fine-tuning the sidelocks to contour the face while ensuring hair strands looked natural on camera. To complement the crimson eyes, a touch of deep red cream eyeshadow was blended into the eye makeup to catch subtle reflections from specific angles. The red-and-black gradient horns felt slightly slippery, so I applied a coat of matte spray beforehand to eliminate unwanted specular glare under studio lights. The white firearm prop carried substantial weight; holding it up for long stretches demanded wrist finesse. For the close-up, placing the gun in front of the face was a composition I planned with the photographer. Using the hand and weapon as a foreground element kept the focal point locked squarely onto the red pupils staring down the lens, even with the background entirely thrown out of focus. For the grip, I adjusted my hand multiple times, aiming for a posture where the finger rested lightly against the trigger without excessive clenching. Straining too hard would cause the knuckles to bulge nervously, whereas an overly loose grip would lose that vigilant combat stance. To freeze the sharpest look in her eyes, I asked the photographer to ensure both the firearm frame and the pupils behind it stayed within the depth of field when locking focus. Regarding lighting, the gaffer used a relatively hard rim light tracing the horns and blue hair, carving out dimensional separation against the blurred backdrop. Because the key light came from the side-front, the face remained free of cluttered shadows, perfectly fitting Ch'en's crisp, no-nonsense persona. A minor challenge was that the blue wig was quite dense, pressing against my ear cartilage after prolonged wear; pairing that with holding the firearm kept my shoulders in a constant state of tension. Fortunately, seamless on-set synergy allowed the photographer to trigger the shutter immediately upon each pose adjustment, yielding high shooting efficiency. I deliberately broadened my physical movements, as engaging bodily tension naturally imbues the gaze with resolute focus. Beyond the costume and accessories, smooth continuity in action is what I value most; holding a weapon with organic comfort prevents photos from feeling flat. Prior to the shoot, I steamed the entire outfit thoroughly, as long sleeves and straps easily crease during transit, undermining the sharp look. Rather than dramatic false eyelashes, I chose slender, elongated lashes with a cool demeanor that, alongside red contacts, deepened the gaze. In framing discussions with the photographer, we decided to use the foreground firearm to carve out spatial depth. Shooting with a wide-aperture lens created an extremely shallow depth of field, making alignment tricky and demanding that I hold a rock-steady pose so the lens could capture sharp facial focus. Considering Ch'en's characterization, the texture of the blue coat was vital; cinching the waist slightly preserved an agile silhouette from shoulder to waist even in bust close-ups. The rigid black chest straps dug into the shoulders a bit, but this naturally straightened my posture into an alert stance. Post-processing focused on basic skin retouching alongside fine contrast adjustments across the eyes and gun muzzle. Reviewing the final frames, the angle of the prop felt spot-on: the white reflective surface never stole the spotlight, instead harmonizing with the red pupils and blue hair to forge visual tension. The entire cosplay photography session flowed smoothly, and I hope this photo conveys Ch'en's disciplined focus while on duty in Arknights.
