The studio shoot photos for this Fischl Genshin Impact cosplay in March are finally sorted out. My procrastination kicked in until now to post it, but actually, I am quite satisfied with this set of photos after finishing it.
The styling chosen this time is Fischl's default appearance in the Genshin Impact game. This entire outfit is primarily based on black and purple, carrying a strong sense of mystery and traits of an Electro-attribute character visually. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design, which, paired with a purple bow at the neck bearing a diamond emblem, visually elongates the neckline. The sleeves are designed as detached, presenting loose, purple flare sleeves. The fabric material of these sleeves is relatively light and thin, which can form a beautiful dynamic flowing effect when swung inside the photography studio—this is also an important element to utilize during studio cosplay. The lower body consists of black shorts paired with dark tights, with a star-shaped garter strap design on the upper thigh of the left leg. This detail is very eye-catching during photo editing, and paired with high-heeled ankle boots, it beautifully elongates the leg proportions. The shoes themselves underwent an imitation leather texture treatment, combined with gold embellishments at the bottom, making the overall details relatively complete.
For the wig, a light blonde short wig was chosen, paired with a face-framing half-covered bang style. The eyepatch on the right side is the absolute soul of Fischl's character. The size and position of the eyepatch were repeatedly confirmed with the makeup and styling artist before shooting. In order not to affect the conveyance of eye expressions, the edges of the eyepatch were stiffened to provide a better fit when worn, preventing it from looking out of place from a side-profile angle.
The partner for this studio shoot was a highly experienced photographer, and we spent a lot of time adjusting the light and shadow. The texture of this outfit under low light is excellent, especially the layering of the black corset and purple ribbons. To simulate the mysterious aura of the character in the anime world, we didn't use particularly bright ambient light during the studio shoot, but relied on top light and rim light to illuminate the hair outline, while also sketching the shadows of the tights and legs under the side light. Since the material of the tights is quite translucent, we also had to be careful not to generate too much reflection when lighting, maintaining that matte texture.
Regarding props, this weapon is the most space-consuming part of the entire look. Shaped like a fusion of a longbow and a scythe, it has sharp edges with purple and gold patterns on it. The prop was made quite large; trying to lift it with one hand and pose naturally during the studio shoot actually requires a certain level of core strength and arm exertion. Otherwise, without paying attention, the arms would look too tense, ruining the character's "proud yet effortless"气质 (temperament). To remedy this issue, in the first photo, I turned my body sideways, utilizing the sharp tip of the weapon to extend the visual impact of the frame, paired with a slight backward lean of my center of gravity, allowing the skirt hem and ribbons to drape naturally, creating a dynamic feel of "casting a spell."
The makeup this time was relatively heavy, with the focus on the eyeshadow and eyeliner. To complement the character's tsundere setting, the brow shape was given an upward-tilted treatment. The lips chose a plum color scheme, keeping consistent with the overall black and purple main theme. During shooting breaks, I also reviewed some raw playbacks; the snapshots during movement were more vivid than static posing. Especially capturing the exact moment the ribbons flew up—even if they would immediately fall due to gravity—the single frame frozen by the camera is highly expressive.
The whole process took about a few hours. Although wearing high-heeled ankle boots and needing to constantly tighten my leg muscles to stand straight on the platform, I felt all the hard work was worth it after seeing the final results. As one of the highly popular characters in Genshin Impact, Fischl's design itself possesses an immense amount of playability. Being able to restore her movement details well and integrate my own understanding can be considered a homage to this character. This set of photos does not rely heavily on special effects and post-production, but relies more on the visual elements of the costume itself and the studio cosplay lighting to present texture, hoping to bring a fairly good restoration answer sheet to friends who like this character through this Cosplay photography.
