The convention photos from Chengdu CD30 are finally retouched! This time I shot a nurse succubus styled ensemble, though since it was a spontaneous walk-in shoot at the Chengdu Anime Convention, I don't actually know which specific character it is—I just thought the outfit was gorgeous and decided to wear it for this cosplay.

Let's first talk about the overall concept of this coordination. The costume is a modified take on a classic nurse uniform, predominantly white with red piping and lace-up straps as accents. The top features an off-the-shoulder cut, a high-collared lace trim at the neck, and delicate cutout and strapping details across the chest. The sleeves are voluminous puff sleeves cinched at the wrists. The bottom is a richly layered pairing of pumpkin bloomers and an overskirt, with the hem and waist adorned with white ruffled frills and red cross motifs. To emphasize the nurse attribute, I topped it with a white nurse cap bearing a red-heart cross, and added small black devil horns on both sides of the brim to seamlessly tie into the nurse succubus theme.

For the wig, I selected curly silver-white twin tails, volumizing the crown and sides to enhance three-dimensional silhouette depth. For makeup, since the attire is mostly white, I used reddish-brown eyeshadow and red colored contacts to brighten my gaze, while accessorizing with a pair of red-framed glasses. Glasses were genuinely a clever bonus touch: while combining a nurse with a succubus easily leans overly sweet, the glasses injected a hint of intellectual flair and charming contrast. On my back, I also wore black bat wings props, enriching the layered dimension of the entire styling.

As for props, I carried a red trident. Even though it was simply a plastic prop, coordinated with the red-and-white palette of the outfit, it worked remarkably well on camera for this Anime-style photography. During shooting, the photographer constantly guided me through dynamic, tense poses, such as pointing the trident forward with one hand or holding it horizontally across my chest. The pose in Photo 5 lifting one leg was a live capture: to showcase the ruffled layers of the skirt and the contours of my legs, I had to maintain body balance while controlling facial expressions, which genuinely put my core strength to the test.

This was shot inside the Chengdu CD30 venue at the Chengdu Anime Convention. With countless spotlights across the ceiling and dark reflective flooring, this setting was exceptionally suited for capturing works with a dark-sweet aesthetic in Anime-style photography. Because the venue was expansive and crowded with passersby, the photographer utilized a wide aperture to intensely blur out the background, making me stand out crisply within the frame. As I was just doing spontaneous shoots without a fixed booth, I simply carried my bag wandering around the hall, stopping whenever I bumped into familiar photographers—the entire experience was delightfully casual.

I've previously cosplayed characters that demanded strict fidelity to original designs, requiring in-depth study of personality and poses. However, an ensemble without a rigid preexisting concept actually granted me immense creative freedom. I could adapt poses entirely according to my own interpretation without worrying about staying in character. The combination of nurse attire and devil wings is quite popular at anime conventions, yet seeing different people wear it always delivers distinct flavors. For this session, I focused heavily on textural contrasts: the softness of lace versus the leather-like finish of the bat wings, as well as the purity of white fabric juxtaposed with the perilous allure of red crosses.

Sorting through these photos for this Event photo delivery, I felt that running around the convention all day was completely worth it. Even without knowing the character's exact origin, being able to unite elements I love and capture satisfying Anime-style photography frames is the purest joy of doing cosplay. I hope to encounter more fun stylistic combinations at the next Chengdu Anime Convention and keep capturing stunning convention photos.
