The theme for this photoshoot features Asuma Toki's Gymnastics uniform look from Blue Archive. Set in a school hallway with cool-toned lighting, the goal was to portray a relaxed, post-workout state right after after-school training. For attire, I chose a navy blue athletic short-sleeve top and fitted shorts; side white stripe accents and the chest ID card prop were carefully preserved to recreate the character's Campus style athletic outfit. The wig is light golden long straight hair, with bangs trimmed relatively thick so the front profile closely aligns with her original silhouette.
During shooting, we specifically sought an indoor stairwell with cool-toned ambient light, using a wooden frame on the left as a foreground framing element to create a natural candid/peeking perspective. Concurrently, low-angle shots lengthened lower body lines, making the shorts' cut and leg proportions appear more stretched and graceful. The blue water bottle in hand served as a specially prepared matching prop; paired with a gentle head tilt gazing into the distance, it captures a lived-in moment of taking a break between workouts. Since the setup lacked complex scene building, focus shifted heavily to controlling body posture, light, and shadow. Cool blue tones reinforced a quiet, slightly distant student atmosphere.
In practice, standing poses were adjusted multiple times; since low-angle perspectives can easily make legs look thick, finding an angle that conveys leg length while preserving natural curvature required constant micro-adjustments to toe directions and weight distribution. Aligning the shorts' leg cuffs with the top's waistline was also crucial to prevent proportion distortion under a low angle. I also avoided over-sharpening during post-production this time, striving to preserve organic skin texture and fabric weaves so the photo reads like authentic photography rather than an over-processed poster.
Having seen clips of her training in the animation, her earnest yet delightfully dorky gap charm was captivating. Thus, facial expressions weren't focused on cool posing, but rather slightly spaced out, focusing on a distant point to retain an absent-minded mood. The Gymnastics uniform styling inherently carries athletic energy and youthful spirit; combined with Blue Archive's signature Campus style, the overall outcome turned out clean, crisp, and uncluttered. Additionally, framing was carefully planned so the figure wasn't pinned against frame edges, keeping full-body visual weight slightly left of center. The blue circular sign on the background wall served as a subtle accent above the head, breaking the monotony of plain white walls.
We didn't bring extensive lighting equipment for this shoot, relying mostly on ambient natural light and corridor overhead lights. Post-production slightly rolled off highlights while lifting shadow detail to render blue tones more luminous and translucent. Overall, this was a relaxed creative session that eschewed flamboyant poses in favor of simple settings and props to restore the character's everyday side. I hope fans who appreciate Gymnastics uniforms and Campus style aesthetics can feel this refreshing post-workout atmosphere.
