This set of Convention photos features Nian cosplay from Arknights, completing this visual creation interwoven with red, white, and black at the Wuxi anime convention. A very clean, beige-toned wall was chosen as the backdrop for the entire series, allowing the subject to stand out prominently in the frame. Holding a rolled sheet of white paper as a prop during the shoot made posing feel effortless and natural. The high-angle overhead shot in Photo 1 delivers great visual impact; combined with the perspective height difference, it captures the character's subtly tsundere and proud presence well. Photo 2 is a frontal snapshot, best suited as a cover shot, showcasing crisp facial details and luminous eyes. Photo 3 uses the paper to half-cover the face, accentuating the gaze and red horn accessories with an aura of mystery. Photo 4 features a hand on the hip while holding the paper roll over one eye, adding a playful, teasing vibe. The most demanding aspect of this outfit is the waist design—the red bow tie and black belt cinch the waistline narrowly, contrasting nicely with the loose sleeves of the top. The red horns on top combined with sunglasses added a fun, quirky element to the overall look. Since these were on-site Convention photos with uncontrollable ambient lighting, photographer Mu Bai did his best to find front-lit corners free of cluttered shadows. The purple contacts paired with reddish eyeshadow makeup harmonized beautifully under warm lighting, which, combined with the silver-white hair, fit the character's demeanor perfectly. The convention was packed over those days; wearing a thick black coat while coordinating expressions and movements was physically draining. However, seeing the viewfinder capture the rich texture of the black, white, and red outfit under the light, along with the white cord knot patterns at the waist and the gradient hemline, made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile. During this shoot, to embrace the spontaneous nature of Convention photos, we avoided stiff, overly staged poses, instead utilizing the white paper scroll in hand to create diverse interactive postures. Honestly, doing cosplay at every anime convention is a unique experience—everyone gathers out of love for the same franchise, snapping Convention photos for each other and discussing characters. Furthermore, the tailoring of this outfit was outstanding, with rich detailing on the black cuffs and white collar straps, and red accents placed just right. Color grading for this set leaned toward warm tones, avoiding excessive skin smoothing to retain authentic skin texture and make the overall atmosphere feel more natural. As a female cosplayer, portraying a character with such a commanding presence requires paying extra attention to eye control compared to other roles—avoiding any timid softness and projecting a sharp, confident gaze. Because queuing and finding friends ate up time, we searched for shooting spots while walking around, eventually taking advantage of this solid-colored wall at the venue to enrich the framing through varying high-angle perspectives and hand-held paper poses. The red waist ribbons swayed gently while walking—a detail that made the costume feel full of vitality. The photographer was great at directing, telling me not to fixate on a single perspective, which led to unconventional shots like Photo 1. Although these photos were spontaneous snapshots taken on-site at the anime convention, that nonchalance actually captured the character's unconstrained, free-spirited nature perfectly. To wrap up, from preparing the costume, makeup, and props to being surrounded by so many people taking photos on set, I deeply felt the charm of Anime-style photography—it's not just about capturing beauty, but freezing the instant of a character's living energy.
