Day 3 of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo schedule wrapped up smoothly, bringing a duo Hatsune Miku project with my partner this time. To match the theme \"The initial sound echoes into the future,\" we put quite some thought into our Cosplayer outfit combinations, both selecting glossy black patent leather material as the main base tone paired with signature teal ties and hair colors. In early concept planning, the costume tailoring considered light reflection under outdoor lighting; during actual shooting, thanks to photographer NightDiva mastering the light on-site, we set up portable white reflector panels outdoors to outline the costume's highlight edges with strong light sources, making the material contrast between patent leather and Fishnet stockings much more three-dimensional.
The primary prop this time was that teal plush doll; though not very large, it provided a fantastic visual balance during interactive shots. For instance, seated poses holding the plushie with one hand, or joint shots unfolding the plush toy together kept the frame from looking bare. To maintain wig volume outdoors, we had to constantly adjust hair strands by hand during breaks, as Guangzhou's oppressive July heat was quite a test for wig and makeup durability. Luckily, Feng Lun handled custom color grading in post-processing, wonderfully unifying color differences between skin tones and outfits. The combination of black tops with short skirts, Fishnet stockings, and platform boots preserved iconic character elements while looking crisp and nimble during convention walk-around snapshots.
The shooting process was also a lot of fun; we attempted many dynamic and playful poses, such as making specific joint hand gestures or one person looking up while holding the plushie. Since the venue was packed with visitors, we tried picking relatively quiet green belt areas around the convention perimeter; although avoiding crowds, the changing natural evening light added difficulty to the shoot. In post-processing, we focused on preserving the reflective details of the black patent leather, preventing overexposure highlights from turning the clothes into flat dead black, while enhancing the cool-warm contrast between teal hair strands and the environment. As for accessories, I deliberately rested sunglasses on my head for decoration, and carefully checked the red \"01\" mark on the left arm and headphone accessories before the expo to prevent props from falling off.
Speaking of which, this was a truly memorable convention event in the summer of 2026. The atmosphere among fellow fans on-site was incredible; although wearing black leather outfits in the hot July sun all day left us somewhat exhausted, we believe the final photos are completely worth the effort. For such highly interactive dual-person frames, keeping movement synchronization was actually harder than imagined; often to catch a suitable eye contact angle, we needed to repeatedly adjust positioning and center of gravity. Both the photographer and my partner were very patient, and while ensuring safety, we also used stairs and benches at the convention venue to complete compositions with varied heights.
The post-processing direction this time was kept as restrained as possible without stacking excessive filters, mainly wanting costume textures, hair shine, and the cuteness of the small plushie to emerge naturally. The Fishnet stockings part was prone to snagging while walking around the convention, so I kept movement ranges in mind while maintaining aesthetics. Through this set of photos, we wanted to convey the bright, harmonious visual feel of this \"Hatsune Miku x 2\" project rather than just a shallow character replica. After the shoot, we also reviewed which poses tended to look stiff in raw camera shots, so we can coordinate even better if we shoot similar themes in the future. Overall, this summer convention memory was frozen in time by this photo set; though the shoot involved heat and fatigue, the joy of discovering more photo angles with my partner and photographer under limited conditions gave me a fresh perspective on offline cosplay shooting.
