[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact Ganyu JK School Style Shines at Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo

The night photoshoot plan for Day 3 of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo finally came together! This time I brought a JK uniform look for Genshin Impact's Ganyu. Compared to her professional attire in Liyue Harbor in the game, this modern campus style with a sailor uniform and pleated skirt carries a unique approachable charm and a fresh atmosphere.

The main focus of recreating this look lies in the light blue long curly hair and the single ahoge on top of the head. The black-and-red mechanical hair accessories on both sides are very photogenic; they need to be fixed at specific positions on the wig net cap to stay upright without tipping over. In terms of makeup, I deliberately adjusted eyebrows and eye makeup to lighter shades and wore violet contact lenses, making the eyes look both clear and spirited. Although the outfit is a common combination of a white sailor top, dark blue collar with white stripes, and a red bow tie, the character's distinct hair color and accessories give it high recognizability the moment it's put on.

This shoot was entirely on location at night, so huge thanks to photographer NightDiva for all the hard work. Nighttime lighting relied completely on a huge softbox set up beside us; this combination of side-rim light and front fill light made the contours of the face and hair strands exceptionally soft, giving the skin a translucent look. The first standing pose gently touching the chin was meant to show the character's calm composure. The second photo, sitting on a black folding step stool, is my personal favorite. When crossing my legs, the contrast between the white over-the-knee socks and black platform loafers nicely elongated my lines, paired with a "salute" motion that made the whole vibe lively and playful—perfect for a cover image. The third close-up, framing a shot with my fingers, highlighted facial features and gaze, while the fourth wide-angle high-angle shot featured one arm reaching toward the lens and the other saluting, offering strong visual perspective and impact.

Shooting outdoors really tests physical endurance, especially during muggy summer nights in Guangzhou. Walking around the convention grounds wearing a heavy wig and thigh-high socks, I survived entirely on a portable mini-fan. However, the atmosphere at the venue was amazing. The crowd on Day 3 of Firefly thinned out a bit by evening, and occasionally running into fellow fans who recognized me and complimented, "Ganyu looks so pretty in a JK uniform," made all the effort completely worthwhile.

Trying a new approach to present a beloved character is inherently a joyful creative process for me. Ganyu, who usually has an ethereal divinity, gains a touch of the comforting neighborhood senior girl next door under this JK uniform interpretation. I hope this photo set conveys a different side of Genshin Impact Ganyu's charm and captures this precious memory from Guangzhou Firefly in the summer of 2026.
