The location shoot for Flowers, birds, wind and moon was set outdoors in autumn, with the overall concept aiming to blend this Kimono cosplay styling with the seasonal aesthetic of natural landscapes.
Picture 1 was taken in the reed marshes at dusk; backed by distant mountains and open water, the light was very soft, and the bending posture holding the fan created a quiet, serene feeling. Picture 2 is a frontal composition under harsh noon sunlight; although the light was direct, it clearly captured the light blue base color and cherry blossom patterns of the kimono, with the red maple on the fan being a standout highlight. Picture 3 was shot in backlit conditions, using red autumn leaves in the foreground to partially block the lens, creating blurred light spots, while the rim light outlining the profile was captivating.
Before shooting, I intentionally styled the wig's layering, as the long, thick teal strands would lack vitality if kept too sleek. The woven rope knot and obi belt at the waist serve as the visual centerpiece of the entire look, which took quite some effort to fix in place. The kimono consists of multiple inner and outer layers; during the official shoot, it demanded high control over posture and arm placement, while holding the folding fan at various angles helped adjust body contours.
Outdoor photography relies heavily on shifting natural light, where warm and cool color temperatures at different times of day significantly impact photo textures. In post-processing, I mainly fine-tuned the color tone, wanting to maintain a balance of visual clarity infused with gentle autumn warmth. Since the theme Flowers, birds, wind and moon intrinsically carries classical painterly charm, I paid special attention during framing to the silver grass on the ground and the distant mountain ridge line to bring this 2D classical mood to life.
