Wore these patterned circle lenses running around the Anime convention all day today. Because my astigmatism is fairly severe, the toric axis was constantly off-center, causing persistent double vision and making my gaze look slightly unfocused in photos—looking back at them made me laugh at myself. Since I've cosplayed this outfit countless times, it's essentially revisiting an old favorite, so I didn't do overly complex hair and makeup, just smoothed out the wig. The wig is mint green with glitter dusted over the crown; to recreate the character's hair color and texture, I wore dark limbal-ring contacts beforehand, which paired nicely with the amber irises to give a solid look.
The outfit is a black-and-white lace halter top featuring a white lace collar spliced with black mesh lace, accented in the center with a gold-trimmed bow and a star-shaped brooch. This bow pendant is quite hefty, easily pressing against my neck whenever I tilted my head down. The cyan wing prop on the side was re-secured using hot glue and craft wire; conventions get crowded and props easily fall off, but it adds immense atmosphere for photos. For makeup, I layered heavy foundation to conceal dark circles, making eyeliner and mascara intentionally bold and dark—cameras tend to wash out makeup, so going heavy is necessary to retain that depth. For that Selfie in particular, I deliberately angled my head slightly upward to better showcase the neckline details and collarbone lines. However, the neckline was cut a bit low, so I felt shy showing it fully and added a capybara sticker in post-editing to cover it up, which actually looked quite playful.
The venue was hosting a 2D Showcase Project event with huge crowds. I tested several backdrops; the ceiling featured black-and-gold chandeliers, creating complex, tricky lighting conditions. Wearing toric lenses with a misaligned axis made focusing my eyes a struggle at times, so I had to snap numerous shots with my phone and camera just to find usable ones. This black-and-white lace outfit is actually quite demanding on body proportions—the black fabric offers a slimming silhouette while the white lace adds an airy touch, flattering the shoulders and arm contours nicely. For this shoot at the Anime convention, I even manicured my nails and applied white nail polish. Still, because the props and outfit were intricate and I walked all day, my back and waist ached—the inevitable price of cosplaying; exhausting, yet deeply rewarding. Finding shooting angles was equally finicky: bad lighting angles cast shadows that broadened my jawline, so I leaned toward frontal angles or slight upward tilts. The color palette is quite versatile—even without fully matching the in-game scene, the headpiece and bow tie carried the entire silhouette. Although detangling and prepping the wig for half a day every time is a chore, the final result was pretty neat. Today went smoothly overall; next time, I'll make sure my vision is properly corrected and take more crisp photos.
