[Hatsune Miku cosplay] Rabbit Hole Zombie Miku: Convention Photo Records

For these convention photos from the Zhanjiang Comic Convention, cosplaying Hatsune Miku's Rabbit Hole Zombie Miku resulted in shots even more visually dynamic than I anticipated. The location was set outside the expo hall beneath colossal metal trusses; the rigid, industrial lines created a striking synergy with the dark edge of the zombie concept. To capture exorcism-themed kinetic action, photographer Huanghun and I went through extensive pre-shoot discussions.

The foremost challenge lay in the physical movement. For the suspended inverted shot, I leaned backward onto a mat and used core strength to drive my legs upward, all while keeping my gaze detached and cool in true zombie fashion. Sheer black stockings and patent high heels produced high-contrast sheen under the lights, demanding tight leg muscle engagement to keep lines sculpted and smooth. The high-kick pose proved even more physically demanding: mid-kick, I had to toss talisman slips into the air, requiring multiple shutter timing tests to ensure the falling talismans drifted directly within the focal depth.

Regarding the costume, this dark navy bodysuit features a tailored fit, with golden frog closures and piping providing crisp highlight accents against the darker tones. The wig was textured with defined layers, ensuring the light blue and pink gradient tips remained voluminous enough to retain their shape during energetic movement. For makeup, alongside the red-and-blue eye shading, the talisman affixed to the forehead was a signature touch; balancing aesthetics with structural hold, I secured it firmly to the wig cap using double-sided tape. The black stockings paired with chunky block-heeled patent shoes required meticulous posture checks during kicks and inversions to control muscle tension and avoid heels snagging the fabric.

The shots with crew tossing talismans took tremendous effort. The yellow talismans inscribed with red script had to drift organically rather than look staged. We calibrated throwing arcs and wind currents repeatedly; as slips fluttered through the air, the photographer opened the aperture to produce foreground bokeh, locking sharp focus directly onto my face. Shadows cast by the metal trusses added spatial depth. With limited convention shooting time, we leveraged natural ambient architectural daylight supplemented by reflector bounce to ensure balanced facial exposure.

From movement choreography to costume execution and prop coordination, every step required significant energy. Managing a dedicated space for high-intensity dynamic captures amidst dense convention crowds felt like a fitting tribute to this build. The session pushed core endurance and bodily control to the limit; waking up sore the next day felt well worth it after seeing the results. Post-processing focused on preserving kinetic tension, avoiding plastic skin smoothing to retain authentic light and shadow textures.
