[Arturia cosplay] Arknights

When shooting this Arturia cosplay, I was pondering how to express her seemingly gentle yet genuinely perilous temperament. The costume centers on black and white, where the dark flowing hair and scarlet eyes are the true soul of the look. The jacket cuffs are traced with clean black lines, the neck bow holds a crisp, structured shape, and the geometric gold patterns bordering the skirt hem add a wonderful finishing touch. Putting on black high heels and Black stockings noticeably elongated my leg proportions, which is why I personally love the standing composition the most—the Black stockings carry a subtly sheer texture that, paired with the curve of the heels, stands out remarkably under the studio lights.

The floating black geometric shards behind me were by far the most tedious props today, requiring delicate suspension at varying heights with clear fishing line to achieve a hovering illusion. The handheld string instrument prop boasts high fidelity; although somewhat hefty, holding it actually helped use the counterweight to strike a poised, aloof stance, leaning slightly against the background to display the full silhouette of the outfit.

The first set of photos was captured in front of pure white Gothic style arched window tracery, complemented by plush floor carpets and a full backdrop of white blossoms under bright, luminous lighting. To match this almost sacred aura, I deliberately softened my gaze, lowering my eyelids so the crimson contact lenses wouldn't look glaring, instead appearing muted and restrained. The large bouquet of white flowers in hand neutralized the sharpness of the outfit, making the whole image feel gentle and exquisite.

The third set shifted to an entirely different setup with crimson velvet drapery and a tilted gilded picture frame. The lighting transformed into warm amber spotlights—intense and theatrical—while vintage clockwork gears in the backdrop injected a fantasy element. In this series, I adjusted my posture, shifting weight to one side with the other leg slightly bent, creating a striking visual clash between the black skirt, Black stockings, and the crimson backdrop. The texture of the Black stockings emerging from the shadows exuded a mature, elegant allure, and my gaze deepened beneath the spotlight. Compared to cool tones, the character felt much more commanding against the red background. During the shoot, the photographer continuously guided me to tap into that nuanced sensation bordering pain and ecstasy. I experimented with various angles—tilting my head, turning sideways, or tracing my fingertips across the prop—to keep the lines of the garment flowing and make the black shards behind me appear as if spiraling around.

The fabric of the white jacket has a gentle drape, imparting an airy flow to my movements. For the base makeup, I specifically pursued a matte, cool-toned porcelain finish, coordinating the eyeliner and lip color to minimize color disparity. This shoot gave me a deeper understanding of the harmony between costume and prop textures, environmental lighting, and character personality. Although the process was demanding—repeatedly adjusting hair strands while balancing leg poses and prop placements—the sheer satisfaction of immersively recreating the character upon seeing the raw files was unmatched. It was truly a delightful Cosplay photography experience.
