【Saga cosplay】Here Comes the Foodie Little Monk in the Woods - Image 1

For this Saga shoot during a Hangzhou photography booking, I decided to center the theme around a playful take on the 'Foodie dog.' The outfit features a dark blue Japanese-style coat with substantial fabric weight, creating a graceful drape when walking through the woods. For hair and makeup, I paired white ears with a dark blue wig to echo the White tights, giving the entire look a clean and refreshing visual balance.

The shooting location was a woodland area with great natural light penetration. The diagonal sunbeams cast beautiful dappled light onto the rocks and fabric, eliminating the need for strong artificial fill lights and giving the natural light photos a much softer texture. As for how this photo came to be: I was sitting on a moss-covered boulder waiting for the photographer to adjust camera angles, looking down at my phone screen to review previews of our previous shots. The relaxed seated pose happened to showcase the leg contours and layered outfit nicely. That quiet, focused state was genuinely captured while I was busy checking photos.

Then the photographer suggested shooting a fun teaser snapshot. He called my name, and I instinctively looked up at the lens with slight confusion—my mind was wondering why we were shooting again so quickly, and the question mark on my face was a purely authentic reaction. Looking at the raw files later, that bewildered expression turned out adorably cute, fitting the humble little monk persona perfectly. The White tights on the lower body fitted smoothly without looking out of place under the tree shade, seamlessly matching the playful Foodie dog vibe. The main prop was simply the phone in hand, capturing the feeling of the character carrying a communication device on her travels.

Since we shot in Hangzhou, the weather was somewhat muggy. The costume wasn't very breathable, so my back was sweating after a short while, but luckily a breeze blew through the trees to keep resting periods comfortable. Quite a bit of care went into styling details for this booked shoot—the silver ornaments on the outfit and lace trims on the sleeves all required neatening to look premium. For Saga, the deep navy tones blended harmoniously with the forest environment without disappearing into the background, while the White tights and white ears provided crisp visual contrast.

The contrast between the two shots was intended to show a funny before-and-after: fully absorbed in browsing the phone one second, and turning around completely blank-faced the next. This candid, natural reaction felt far more dynamic than a staged pose. I'm very satisfied with how this playful shoot turned out—radiating a touch of goofiness in the quiet deep woods while capturing the lively energy of the wandering dog monk. If given the chance next time, I'd love to visit other scenic spots in Hangzhou for a more formal Saga photoshoot, but keeping things light and playful was a great choice for this round.
