Finished photoshoot broadcast—this top-down photo set is finally ready!
This time I chose Mostima's default look from Arknights, and the entire shooting process was actually much quieter than I had anticipated. Photographer @ShuQingMeng scouted a flat space with a pure white background in advance, relying solely on a single key light and blue-and-white ambient wash lights to maximize that crisp, chilly "frozen in time" aesthetic for this Atmospheric photography project.
Getting into character and assembling the gear was quite a test of patience, especially layering the white top beneath the black zip-up jacket. The furry trim along the collar had to be adjusted to the right volume; otherwise, it would easily get crushed out of shape when lying flat. The straps and zippers with cyan-blue edges on the jacket are among the most recognizable details of the look, casting very clean reflections under the lighting. The wig features a rich royal Blue long hair hue. Because of the lying-down posture, the hair easily scattered across the floor, requiring several rounds of teasing and restyling before achieving a natural curve that framed facial features without obscuring them.
The composition adopted a pure bird's-eye overhead angle, requiring me to lie completely flat on the floor. This angle is genuinely unforgiving on facial smoothness; any slight lapse in posture can blur the jawline, but fortunately, after several takes, we captured a very satisfying shot. For the prop, we selected a vintage wooden mantle clock, placing it between the side of my head and shoulder—honestly, this clock had quite a bit of heft in hand. Enveloped in cool blue-and-white light, the white dial and wooden casing formed an intriguing visual centerpiece, resonating cleanly with the "end of time" thematic concept.
Regarding wardrobe details, the bottom was paired with black shorts and matching black thigh-highs. In a flat lying posture, natural fabric stretching and gathering meant that the balance between leg lines and negative space had to be manually fine-tuned, resulting in multiple on-site adjustments to the jacket's opening. The contrast between expansive blue ambient light and white key light was stark; the photographer used targeted fill light to preserve facial three-dimensionality, preventing flat lighting from washing out facial contours.
Looking back at this shoot, even with just one setting and one pose, a minimalist frame tests lighting precision all the more. The zipper textures, leather creasing, and the softness of the fur collar were all accentuated by the blue rim lighting. That is precisely why I adore this finished set—without relying on flashy visual effects or elaborate backdrop panels, simply orchestrating the subject, a single prop, and focused light brought the character's disposition to life. Mostima inherently carries a detached, easygoing aura, and the visual language of the top-down perspective combined with the frozen clock element captured that timeless, suspended stillness to perfection.
Communication with the photographer was seamless throughout—from color temperature to smoothing out every single garment crease, everything was completed in a deeply focused atmosphere. I'm very satisfied with the final image quality of this Mostima cosplay, making it a solid and faithful recreation. While outdoor shoots are vulnerable to weather shifts, this studio set staged in a quiet indoor environment allowed for deeper, uninterrupted immersion. Sharing this finished set as a delicate and dedicated record of this look.
