This set of Viviana cosplay photos required quite a bit of effort from early preparation to actual shooting. When taking on this character, the first keywords that popped into my head were the "Sense of sacredness" and "a divine presence" mentioned in the post. The Candle Knight's character setting in Arknights inherently carries Laterano's unique religious and solemn aura, so the phrase "Let there be light" happens to coincide perfectly with her in-game background atmosphere.
Regarding the costume, this black-and-white Cosplay outfit base actually put tailoring smoothness to the test. The upper black tube top needed a snug fit so it wouldn't shift when standing or raising a sword. The outer white irregular shawl and fabric layers required extensive fastening with pins and hidden snaps, otherwise walking around would ruin that crisp, flowing silhouette. The waist belt buckle and golden tassels served as vital details enhancing overall refinement; the tassels had to drape naturally, or they would look messy in dim light. For the lower body, I picked a slightly firmer material for the white thigh-high boots so they would outline better leg lines standing under the chandelier, creating a balanced color ratio alongside the black miniskirt.
The most challenging prop detail was undoubtedly the pair of massive stag antlers on my head. This headpiece carried considerable weight, requiring careful management of its center of gravity using hairpins and straps to anchor the base securely to both the wig and real hair, preventing it from shaking or shifting when turning my head during the shoot. The black gloves featured textures resembling mechanical joints, which paired nicely with the uniquely styled longsword or cane. While offering a solid grip, specific holding poses required repeated practice because intricate hilt patterns and tiny fittings show up crystal clear in close-up shots; wielding a sword one-handed demanded strong arm stability while maintaining a sharp gaze.
The photoshoot setting was an indoor dark room adorned with a vintage crystal chandelier. Photographer @Jifeng Nian Sir thoroughly understood the Atmospheric photography vibe I wanted. Top lighting shone down from a diagonal upper angle, illuminating strands of my white wig and golden eyes. Under such high-contrast lighting conditions, shadow details can easily get lost; fortunately, the high contrast of this black-and-white outfit allowed bright light to highlight the three-dimensional depth of the white shawl and antlers, while shadows seamlessly blended the black elements into the background. Keeping my chin position steady throughout the shoot was crucial, as even a slight drop of the head would block light from reaching my pupils, diminishing that imposing, majestic presence.
For styling, I chose a light-colored wig to match the original character design, with layered hair ends to add texture. Golden contact lenses stood out strikingly in the low-light environment, which, combined with winged eyeliner, faithfully captured her proud yet compassionate expression. I avoided bright lipsticks in makeup, opting for nude tones to maintain restrained overall coloring so as not to distract from the visual focal point of the black-and-white costume.
We experimented with several camera angles during the shoot, ultimately settling on this posture: holding the sword naturally downward in my right hand while opening my left hand slightly outward. This stance showcases the weapon while utilizing clothing lines to create an expansive visual effect. Shooting the entire set was undoubtedly exhausting, but seeing the antlers, crystal chandelier, and side lighting weave together seamlessly in the final shots brought a truly satisfying sense of accomplishment. The complexity of this look demanded high character fidelity and personal expression; being able to try my absolute best to present Viviana cosplay with a Sense of sacredness in this scene made it a deeply rewarding experience.
