[Laevatain cosplay] Black-and-Red Gothic Style Record at Hypergryph Carnival

For this black-and-red gothic battle outfit of Laevatain, from styling the wig to assembling the weapon props, I put a lot of thought and effort into polishing every detail. The wig was selected from matte heat-resistant fibers, with the bangs and sideburns trimmed into subtly feathered layers so that dynamic movements in front of the camera wouldn't look stiff. To ensure the black horn ornament on top of the head stayed firmly attached, I prepared a special base so it wouldn't shift even while walking around the venue all day. For the makeup, I deliberately chose cool-toned blue-violet colored contacts and added fine shimmer glitters to the eye makeup; under the convention hall's warm lighting, it caught subtle highlights that formed a striking warm-cool contrast with the red hair.

In terms of the outfit, the black leather corset offered great waist-cinching, while preserving skin exposure around the shoulders and neck to carry the commanding presence of this look. The asymmetric black-and-red patchwork skirt has a heavy drape; when walking or turning, the red lining and golden flame motifs are revealed with each motion, making the layered dimension stand out. Paired with black leather gloves and a metallic-buckled belt, the battle-ready vibe of the overall look was further heightened. The prop in hand this time was a massive black polearm weapon with substantial weight. Posing with it at the Anime convention cosplay was truly a test of core strength—especially when holding it one-handed or doing a side crouch, arm muscles were continuously engaged. However, whenever the photographer pressed the shutter and showed me playback shots bursting with visual tension, the exhaustion felt completely worth it.

The atmosphere at Hypergryph Carnival was truly amazing, and the giant red-and-black flame backdrop behind me matched this outfit to perfection. The warm on-site lighting created natural rim highlights across the black leather fabric, pushing the visual texture to the max. To better reflect the character's stern demeanor, I minimized redundant movements during shooting, relying primarily on my gaze and subtle hand raises to convey her attitude. Although walking in knee-high leather boots was somewhat tiring, I endured it throughout for harmonious overall proportions. Getting into and out of this costume is quite troublesome with numerous back zippers and straps, requiring great care whenever taking a break.

I met many fellow fans of Arknights and Arknights: Endfield at the hall, exchanging shooting angles and pose ideas in a wonderful, harmonious atmosphere. We experimented with multiple compositions on site, ranging from half-body close-ups to full-body dynamic snaps capturing the flowing skirt. Reviewing the photos afterward, the interplay of red and black under the venue's intricate lighting delivered an extraordinarily rich visual effect. From the fitting to the live photoshoot, despite being physically demanding, bringing the vision in my mind to life was deeply satisfying. This gothic battle look met all my expectations in terms of tactile texture and detailed recreation—it was a thoroughly fulfilling Anime convention cosplay experience.
