I had the chance to step into the look of Aglaea, the Weaver of Gold. The Version 3.3 storyline truly transformed my perception of this character, and her line—'I shall bathe for the final time in the warm, dazzling gold'—kept echoing in my mind. Taking advantage of the comic convention and creator incentive program, I finally brought this iconic design to life in reality.
Starting with the wig: to recreate that divine pale-blonde shade, I added a subtle bright yellow gradient highlight at the tips, trimmed the straight bangs and sideburns, and shaped soft wavy layers throughout to match her in-game aesthetic. For makeup, the eyes were the absolute centerpiece; I specifically picked emerald-green lenses paired with reddish-orange eyeshadow and a subtle wing to maximize her cool, regal allure, keeping the base foundation as clean and luminous as possible.
Most of the workload for the costume went into the intricate details. For the white satin dress of the top, the plunging V-neckline and fluid drape were essential. The large gold-embossed patterns around the waist were cut and assembled using specialized materials to emulate the substantial weight of genuine metal, accented with black feather-like motifs in the center as a focal point. On the arms, I custom-printed floral patterns onto sheer mesh sleeves and linked them with delicate gold chains, while the exaggerated ruffles at the shoulders were crafted in a split white-and-gold design.
The high slit on the skirt is a defining highlight of the ensemble, paired with semi-sheer white Stockings featuring gold vine prints along the front of the shins and gold lace-up sandals. As the hem catches the wind while moving, the visual effect is stunning. The ornate collar necklace around my neck was another significant hurdle; combining metallic cutouts with blue-and-white floral accents made it quite heavy to wear over time, but completely worth it for the final frames.
The shoot was timed for the evening blue hour. The ambient light by the water was wonderfully soft, and the distant city lights melted into soft bokeh that framed the subject beautifully. To complement the character's temperament, I held a golden orb prop and modeled poses inspired by classical statues—whether elevating the orb with one hand or crossing my legs while seated, I focused on keeping my posture dignified and poised.
From preparation to wrap, the entire shoot was a thoroughly enjoyable process, and I hope it lives up to the Weaver of Gold in everyone's hearts.
