[Herta Cosplay] Looking in the Mirror Sees Only a God: Reflections of Honkai: Star Rail

Just finished shooting this set of Herta styling, turned around to look at myself in the mirror, and couldn't help but marvel—looking in the mirror sees only a god. That feeling was truly magical. In fact, from early outfit preparation to final makeup styling, I gradually explored and completed everything alone. Seeing the final results presented in the photos made every hour of previous hard work feel entirely worthwhile.

The most enticing part of this look starts from the top. The first sight of that broad purple Witch hat perfectly fits the sense of mystery and aloof aura associated with a genius character like Herta. To support the hat's shape, I specifically sewed support strips inside the wavy brim, which, combined with light ash-gold bangs across the forehead, not only accentuates facial contours visually but also creates an excellent head-to-body ratio. The black choker paired with a ruffle design delicately frames the neck, while the upper black camisole with chest decorative accents forms a classic contrast against the white inner lining. The short skirt hem features rich layering, scattering naturally when seated on a chair with superb drape.

Looking further down, the soul details of this Cosplay outfit concentrate around the legs. Those black high-heeled Tall boots carry real visual weight; their chunky heel design elongates leg lines while providing steady footing, and metal buckles across the boot shaft, black 3D flower embellishments, alongside a golden shield badge on the outer boot shaft radiate texture. Mixing these materials and design elements brings just the right touch of steampunk and heavy metal flair, maxing out the character's cool factor. The boot length sits right below the knees, transitioning smoothly with socks and skirt hem to keep lower body lines crisp.

Considerable effort went into makeup and wig styling as well. Light ash-gold hair is notoriously hard to groom smoothly, but layering bangs at different lengths added lightness to the whole look. Blue contact lenses served as the finishing touch—this shade fits Herta's calm, slightly looking-down gaze, which, paired with upturned black eyeliner and crisp eyebrow shaping, instantly brought out a cool, haughty, yet composed temperament.

Although I mentioned in the post that I just 'slapped together an edit to post', post-processing was anything but casual. Shot by the window, natural light filtering through glass created soft light and shadow play. Black garments easily blur into dark blobs under low light, so during editing, I adjusted highlights and shadows not only to preserve metal reflection details on clothing and Tall boots, but even fine-tuned texture details on the black staff leaning against the wall, aiming to find the most authentic visual resonance through contrast.

Within the worldbuilding of Honkai: Star Rail, Herta's researcher intellect and composed mastery over everything are difficult to convey purely through appearance. Wearing this attire standing by the window with distant cityscapes and highways outside, I tried setting aside distractions to embody the character's confidence, seeking that 'I'm just standing here casually, but the aura has already won' feeling. Though styling preparation is intricate, recreating a beloved character this way is inherently joyful. Mirror reflections in daily life and freeze-frames before the lens are merely external projections of character connection. That wraps up today's share; I hope this Herta styling conveys my passion and dedication to the character.
