Sharing this official Herta cosplay photoshoot taken at Diwang Plaza. In early discussions, photographer NightDiva placed great importance on recreating a vintage feel and theatricality. For our set, we chose deep red velvet drapery and an intricate golden picture frame, setting a classical and mysterious tone for the entire photo set. What took the most care on shooting day was managing the costume; the oversized hat was quite large, requiring constant angle adjustments to avoid blocking too much light on my face while always keeping an eye on the brim's edge to avoid exposing backstage flaws. The texture of the Black stockings showed up beautifully under the lighting, especially paired with black lace-up ankle boots, effectively elongating the calf proportions. The seams connecting the oversized white sleeves to the black corset were also specially reinforced to prevent seams from tearing during larger movements. During lighting tests, the photographer focused on solving the loss of shadow details, utilizing side softboxes and rim lighting to contour the subject's edges cleanly, while also catching the metallic sheen on the staff. For sitting poses, I mainly adopted the classic crossed-leg posture, which effectively displayed the thigh lines and the subtle texture of the Black stockings. To appear more elegant, I did plenty of homework on posing—such as exerting subtle strength with the hand holding the staff while keeping the fingertips in an attractive curve rather than looking stiff. The two shots with the picture frame composition were also very deliberate, requiring the character to remain centered within the frame while looking directly into the lens, which demanded tremendous poise to hold each pose. Controlling the intensity of my gaze was also a technical skill, conveying a hint of tsundere detachment and mystery. Throughout the shoot, we used red flowers by the table and a phonograph as props to make the composition feel rich rather than monotonous. When positioning the magic staff, the height of my hands was tested multiple times to ensure it didn't obscure the embroidery on the costume. The red background contrasted with the blue-purple costume, making the subject stand out even more. In fact, we scouted Diwang Plaza the day before the shoot, carefully observing lighting changes in several spots before ultimately selecting this red curtain area as our primary shooting location. The indoor ambient light wasn't very flattering for Black stockings and dark attire, so we brought a small reflector board to position underneath whenever needed. This photo set actually took quite a while to shoot—just adjusting the angle of the picture frame took at least half an hour. I held the frame while trying out poses, checking the viewfinder repeatedly to verify positioning. Reviewing the raw photos after wrapping up, the overall texture came through wonderfully, and the leg lines sculpted by the stockings looked especially flattering. I have a personal fondness for this styling—pairing the oversized white sleeves with the purple-black main palette alongside Black stockings creates a cool, alluring look with strong presence. During post-processing, we retained a slightly crisp lighting texture to emphasize the character's aloofness and nobility rather than deliberately aiming for soft charm. Shooting at Diwang Plaza and collaborating with NightDiva were both fantastic experiences, with a very quick turnaround time for the finished photos. When shooting such complex costumes, early prep and ironing absolutely cannot be skipped, or flaws will easily show in the details. At the same time, when portraying a character with voluminous skirts, your sitting posture must be upright with shoulders rolled back, ensuring the dimensional structure of the entire getup is maintained even when seated. Additionally, for close-ups—like hands gripping the hat brim—nail color coordination is also crucial. All in all, this Herta cosplay photoshoot fulfilled a long-held wish; becoming a cool Retro witch in a vintage setting felt truly wonderful, and all the effort paid off.
