Cosplaying Hifumi is truly such a healing experience, especially with this sailor suit and cardigan ensemble that feels so everyday and student-like. The wig is a soft pastel blonde, and I specifically reinforced the overhead halo mount with invisible steel strips because it tends to tilt easily in outdoor breezes, saving me the worry of it falling off during the shoot. That fluffy bird plush backpack is the true soul of the entire look—holding it makes you feel instantly cozy and soft all over. It actually has quite some weight, and carrying it around all day was tiring, but for the visual result, it was totally worth it.
This shoot was set in a café with an outdoor courtyard. The sunlight was wonderful, and the wooden plank textures and red brick walls created a lovely slice-of-life atmosphere. In Photo 3, I sat on a white striped bench with my legs crossed casually, holding a cup of iced milk tea; the sunlight washing over my face felt wonderfully organic. Beside me sat a pink-and-white toy submachine gun—Hifumi's iconic prop. Though just a plastic model, holding it in a few poses immediately created that charming "combat girl" gap-moe contrast. I experimented with resting the gun on the table or slinging it across my body, ultimately finding that the seated composition in Photo 3 with the gun across my lap was the most balanced: it displayed the full outfit layers, revealed leg contours flattered by the black pantyhose, and kept my posture relaxed and open.
Photo 1 is a close-up seated at a round table hugging the big bird bag; the bag's cartoon eyes and beak are hilarious, and resting my chin on top of it made my face look smaller. Photo 2 features me sipping a drink by the glass window, with sunlight filtering through the panes to create clean, luminous lighting—though reflections made wearing glasses a bit tricky, giving my eyes a slightly dreamy, unfocused look. Photo 4 was an impromptu meme recreation wearing a paper bag marked with the number "5," channeling that hilarious "nobody recognizes me with a mask on" vibe from a classic scene, though I still prefer the face-revealing shots.
Special attention was also given to the hair accessories: the yellow feather-shaped clips on both sides were anchored securely so they wouldn't drop when turning around. The navy blue of the skirt and the crisp white of the cardigan formed great contrast, which, paired with the yellow neckerchief, kept the overall palette fresh. It was actually quite warm during the shoot—wearing thick outerwear and Black stockings cosplay under the blazing sun made me sweat after just half an hour, so after each take I rushed indoors to cool off under the AC. But to achieve the best texture, every bit of effort was worth it.
Overall, this was a very relaxed Casual cosplay shoot. Rather than rigid, exaggerated poses, I much prefer these lifestyle scenes where it feels like Hifumi is genuinely enjoying weekend afternoon tea with friends. Aside from the gun and backpack, the props were kept minimal, making it much easier to evoke a sense of effortless ease. The photographer also captured candid moments of me smoothing my skirt and fixing my hair, which, while not included in this set, carried a lovely natural playfulness. I hope this set conveys both the combat spirit and the adorable, dorky sweetness of this Blue Archive character.
