[Herta cosplay] The witch with a pointed hat, an elegant figure on the Astral Express

This shoot features a look for Herta in Honkai: Star Rail. The most recognizable part of the overall ensemble is undoubtedly that huge, wide-brimmed witch hat with a "pointed top." To restore the game's fluffy yet structured texture with high character accuracy, a lot of thought went into selecting the hat's internal boning and matching fabrics. Because the brim is so wide and the center of gravity is high, movements during studio portrait photography had to be exceptionally steady; though it posed a slight physical burden, it added a tremendous aura of presence to the look.

The garment details are rich and meticulously designed. The inner black corset isn't a plain black design; instead, a semi-transparent black mesh fabric is spliced right down the center. Under the soft studio lighting, this sheer design lets natural skin radiance show through, pairing with surrounding black matte panels to deliver visual depth while exuding a mysterious charm. The metallic silver butterfly ornament on the chest serves as a focal point, paired with black buckled straps and laces to maximize exquisite detail.

What attracts me most are the exaggerated lantern sleeves on both sides, formed by multiple layered tiers of sheer lavender and white organza, trimmed with cascading ruffles along the edges. When raising or lowering your arms, the delicate tulle naturally folds and flows, adding dramatic visual tension while making action capture during shooting remarkably vivid. The lower portion features a multi-tiered skirt intertwining black, royal blue, and white, paired with black lace thigh garters and gray stockings, balancing the weight of the upper body and giving the silhouette a longer, sleeker line.

For hair and makeup, I chose a silver-gray base wig with subtle lavender gradients, styled with fluffy layers and clean black hair clips on both sides for a sleek look. The makeup incorporated purple contact lenses to echo the character's cool eye demeanor, complemented by defined eyeliner and thick upper/lower lashes to make the gaze appear sharp and focused. A light pink lip color rounded it out, preventing the cool-toned styling from feeling monochromatic.

During the shoot, we opted for a clean light-gray studio backdrop, leveraging soft and even front diffuse lighting to highlight the textures of the outfit fabrics. In the second seated composition, I deliberately held the hat halfway in my hand with my fingers lightly pinching the brim, resting the other hand naturally in front, perfectly showing off the sweeping flow of the wide sleeves and leg contours. The first close-up shot focused more on that calm, cool eye contact, with a hand lightly touching my face to add storytelling depth to the composition. Equipment and lighting worked seamlessly together, capturing the mesh transparency of the corset and the soft sheen of the stockings in fine detail. Although wearing and adjusting poses in this outfit required quite a few tricks, finding the right center of gravity and gaze before the camera fully brought out her elegant, confident aura—which is precisely part of the immersive experience that cosplay brings.
