[Corin cosplay] The heavy-duty maid of Zenless Zone Zero, the chainsaw is the real deal

The character I cosplayed this time is Corin from Zenless Zone Zero. After working against the clock for quite a while, I finally finalized this Maid outfit packed with industrial and mechanical aesthetics. The biggest characteristic of this styling is the ultimate contrast: on the surface, it features well-behaved, neat ruffled maid headwear and a black-and-white color-blocked apron, but in reality, it is paired with very hardcore tactical straps, heavy leather belts, and thick-soled high-top tactical boots. The four round mechanical fasteners on the chest and the red-and-black bow decoration in the middle are crucial for restoring the character's design language. For the wig, I chose mint-green long straight hair styled to be fluffy yet smooth, while the cross-grid headpiece on top and the hair ties on the sides restored the original device look as much as possible.

Regarding props, I really spared no expense this time, especially on this heavy-duty circular chainsaw with bright color accents. Looking at the design schematics, I knew it wouldn't be light, but holding it was even heavier than expected—the long handle is over a meter long, requiring multiple adjustments to the center of gravity to stabilize my pose. The details of the circular saw combine matte blue with fluorescent green, and the edges of the gear teeth were finished rather sharply; paired with post-production spark effects, it genuinely exudes an overwhelming sense of pressure as if ready to rev up at any second. During the shoot, having to repeatedly lift this heavy piece made sore arms inevitable, but for visual tension, I gritted my teeth and completed several large-scale swinging motions.

The studio set was also tailored to the character's background setting, using a background wall stacked with vintage CRT television sets and specialized cool-blue ambient lighting to create a deserted yet sci-fi Cyberpunk ruin texture. When light fell across my face, combined with an aloof yet slightly mechanical gaze, it effectively highlighted that unique aura of a non-routine, non-human character. During the shoot, standing on wooden pallets with scrap metal drums and the chainsaw underfoot conveyed that relaxed feel of casualness laced with combat readiness.

Because this equipment is complex, the belt buckles at the waist and the patchwork details on the skirt hem also required careful coordination during movements. To find natural support points and centers of gravity, I adjusted my poses repeatedly whether sitting or standing. The close-up photo captured the exact moment sparks flew, and combined with the raised-arm angle, it perfectly showcased the full mechanical structure of the gear before the lens. Fans of mechanical design or maid themes should be able to feel the dedication and production cycle behind this cosplay from these details.

While wearing this getup, one can truly appreciate the ingenuity of Zenless Zone Zero's character design, merging soft domestic housekeeping elements with hardcore combat tools. Although the art style is refreshing, at its core lies a very tough aesthetic. Replicating it in reality, one's whole temperament becomes focused due to the heavy leather and icy metal parts. I believe this is the charm of cosplay: being able to detach from reality in an instant and experience living in another dimension.

By the way, regarding post-production, this set didn't rely on overly complicated special effects; it primarily used on-site cool side lighting to recreate that icy and mysterious vibe, preserving the matte texture of the props as much as possible, as this authenticity is what touches people most. The proportions between the circular saw and the pole, as well as the visual proportions of the outfit on the body, were calculated multiple times before shooting. The color accuracy and texture control in the final photos were quite satisfying, living up to the effort poured into crafting the equipment. Shooting this set was a test of stamina regarding both the weight of the costume and holding the Mechanical props, but seeing the final images made all the effort feel well worth it.
