[Daji Cosplay] My Melody Maid Style from Honor of Kings: Dynamic Jump Before the Lens - Image 1

The photographer suddenly asked me to do a jump during a shutter interval, and among the consecutive burst frames, it finally captured this exact moment you see. In a crowded venue typical of Anime convention cosplay, snapping a clean composition with a fully spread-out skirt in motion requires seamless coordination between movement, expression, and props.

Let's talk about the overall look first. This time, the costume combined maid outfit elements with the adorable My Melody style, reminiscent of a cute Maid cafe aesthetic. The main color palette features bright light blue and pure white, accented with pink piping along the edges and details. The pink wig on head has great layering, paired with fluffy rabbit ears and a bow headband, fitting the sweet and agile theme visually. Elastic tight sleeves on the upper top allowed easy movement while holding the tray prop, and the pink bow at the collar was a fine detail that elevated sophistication.

The most layered part of this costume is the skirt, which stacks plenty of white ruffles, anchored by a light blue wide girdle at the waist and pink lace trim at the hem. Although internal support added weight, when jumping up, all outer ruffle layers naturally fluttered open, creating a gorgeous silhouette. For the lower half, I chose over-the-knee White stockings with a band of sheer pink lace at the top. Paired with white high heels, these White stockings visually extended leg lines, forming one of the key focal points captured during the jump.

Many think capturing a jump is easy, but it actually tests physical stamina and balance immensely. You rely on standing on one leg for support while bending the other leg backward in mid-air, all while keeping one hand steadily balancing a dark tray prop. To prevent the tray from dropping mid-leap, I had to engage my core muscles to stabilize my arm while maintaining eye contact with the lens. I tried multiple times, constantly tweaking jumping force and landing center of gravity on the hard concrete convention floor, being extra cautious of slip resistance with high heels. This resulting shot captured a rather graceful pose in mid-air.

Venue lighting consisted of typical overhead convention grid lights—quite harsh, yet making outfit color saturation pop. Thanks to the strong depth of field from the lens, background crowds and clutter melted into round bokeh spots, highlighting the main subject. Shooting a warm, sweet-style look in an industrial-vibe venue created an appealing contrast. Executing this Daji cosplay heavily relied on on-site performance—from dressing, wig styling, to positioning and movement coordination. The entire image aimed to convey lightness and agility, and despite repeated adjustments during the shoot, I am very satisfied with the dynamic tension shown in the final result.
