This time, I cosplayed Tingyun's 'Fugue' look from Honkai: Star Rail. The visual richness of this outfit made it one of the most exciting yet challenging shoots in my recent work. Let's start with the wardrobe: the core is a sleeveless red-and-white dress featuring dimensional dark-red floral motifs on the chest, complemented by green cloud-and-wave scroll patterns. The dramatic high-slit skirt visually elongates the leg lines immensely. To enhance the overall depth and visual appeal of the styling, I paired White stockings with black pointed-toe stiletto heels. Under warm studio illumination, the smooth texture of the White stockings and leg contours are showcased to perfection, creating a striking contrast against the red dress—this seamless blend of classical oriental elegance and subtle allure is one of my favorite details.
Regarding props and accessories, to authentically channel the character's Foxian attributes, I wore oversized black-and-white plush animal ears alongside remarkably thick, fluffy tails. Balancing two tails—one black and one pink-and-white—proved tricky throughout the shoot, requiring constant core and lower back engagement so they wouldn't droop or appear rigid. The wig blends black and crimson tones, where the bangs and side strands required abundant hairspray to sculpt that signature textured look, while the white pom-pom hair ornaments and red tassel cords were meticulously pinned into place. The folding fan in hand, detailed with golden bells on the handle, served as a stunning focal point; gently waving it during poses infused an authentic sense of Eastern fantasy.
The photoshoot was set in a studio immersed in festive Chinese oriental vibes, brimming with red lanterns, paper-crafted giant koi carp, Chinese knots, and lion dance decorations. This warm-light environment is exceptionally flattering for skin texture, though posing required utmost caution—especially when crossing my legs on the wooden chair, where I used plenty of wardrobe tape to prevent wardrobe slips along the high-slit hem. The fluffy tail fur also needed constant combing to prevent tangling. Overall, the harmony between the chiaroscuro lighting and set design lent the photos rich narrative depth. Dressing up and securing the wig took quite a bit of time, but seeing the final imagery was completely worth it. The timeless clash of red, white, and black, accented by plush textures, struck a wonderful balance between classical grace and feminine allure.
