[Moriya Suwako cosplay] Touhou Project: Mori-Style Stream Outdoor Shoot Straight from the Camera

This outdoor session features Moriya Suwako from Touhou Project. The first image is straight from the camera without retouching, while the second is a frog-themed preview shot. Pre-production took considerable effort, particularly regarding the straw hat. It was originally plain, so I hand-crafted the two white spherical eyes accented with black pupil dots onto the crown; fearing outdoor breezes might dislodge them, I secured everything with ample hot glue. The woven texture of the straw hat photographed wonderfully, and its wide brim shielded harsh direct sun beneath the tree canopy, diffusing soft, even light across my face.

For the wardrobe, I chose a sleeveless purple dress layered over a collared white shirt to add visual depth at the neckline. My favorite elements are the voluminous detached white sleeves, which have an exquisite drape that effortlessly captures that buoyant, god-like grace. Underneath, I wore pure White stockings, which popped cleanly against the lush green foliage and grey river rocks. True to character lore, my demeanor aimed to bridge the line between divine entity and youth—projecting a Loli presence without appearing overly juvenile.

The location was scouted in a nature park featuring a babbling stream and verdant greenery. Squatting perched atop riverside boulders was trickier to balance than it looks. The photographer framed from a low angle to catch sparkling water reflections as a softly blurred backdrop. Dappled sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting organic light and shadow across the purple skirt and white sleeves; capturing the exact moments when breezes lifted the fabric required shifting positions repeatedly. The first frame received virtually no post-retouching thanks to the solid in-camera lighting base. Upcoming previews will likely accentuate the frog-themed color palette to further lean into the character's signature motifs.

Throughout the shoot, I stayed in close communication with the photographer regarding framing. Because natural outdoor settings can easily look cluttered, composition had to be meticulous to crop out stray park visitors and messy brush. The jagged edges of the rocks made crouching physically demanding, causing leg numbness while maintaining relaxed facial expressions. Fortunately, the raw captures turned out with rich organic texture and faithful daylight rendering. Although the cosplay ensemble looks intricate, it was comfortable to wear outdoors and allowed fluid movement. That wraps up today's share!
