[Xiao Qiao Cosplay] Honor of Kings Xiao Qiao: Zhanjiang Yunxi Pavilion Anime Convention Photo Log

This photo set of Honor of Kings Xiao Qiao, captured at the Zhanjiang Yunxi Pavilion anime convention on July 11, is finally fully retouched. From a color grading perspective, this series represents one of my smoothest balance workflows in recent memory. Xiao Qiao's ensemble inherently carries a starry, dreamlike aesthetic; therefore, in post-processing, I deliberately dimmed the chaotic convention crowds in the background while preserving the cool ambient blue glow cast from the arena's giant LED screens. Shifting the overall color temperature into deep blue and violet tones directed primary visual attention onto the luminous clarity of her face and wig.

The wig transitions in a soft gradient from pale blue to pastel pink. To create natural, airy volume, I pre-crimped subtle waves with a flat iron and set it with generous amounts of styling spray, ensuring the structure held its lift despite dynamic poses and hours of roaming the expo halls. The white four-pointed star and black ribbon bow at the crown were equally crucial; they were firmly anchored to the base with bobby pins to eliminate any slipping. For makeup, I opted for vibrant sky-blue contact lenses, washed the lids in a cyan-blue base, and swept fine micro-glitter across the inner corners and brow bones. To honor genuine 2D character fidelity, individual lower lashes were painted stroke by stroke with a liquid liner, ensuring the dimensional eye makeup held up flawlessly under macro camera scrutiny.

Lighting conditions that day were notoriously uneven. Harsh overhead downlights at the convention hall threatened to cast muddy facial shadows, so the photographer and I scouted relatively open pockets with minimal background clutter, utilizing background screen glow as organic rim lighting. The reaching-out pose in the first frame took multiple trials: aiming for an intimate, interactive focal depth meant allowing the foreground hand to soften slightly while keeping facial sharpness rock steady. The second pose—gazing down with clasped hands—aimed to reveal the character's serene, gentle grace. The following salute and outstretched-arm frames were tailored specifically to showcase the clean tailoring and sweeping sleeve silhouettes.

The wardrobe combines white satin, deep purple starry nebula prints, and black structural piping. Balancing localized specularity across these disparate textiles required dedicated grading passes—such as adjusting levels separately across the chest panel so white celestial speckles popped against deep violet. Shoulder lines and underarm contours were sculpted gently with dodge and burn to preserve clean silhouettes. Complexion retouching prioritized translucent purity: neutral-gray frequency separation retained natural skin texture while neutralizing yellow casts and murky falloffs caused by chaotic hall lights.

From raw convention snaps to finished deliverables, tremendous thought went into matching the canon visual blueprint rather than slapping on a generic preset. After wrapping at Yunxi Pavilion, I was so immersed in reviewing raws that I inadvertently lost contact information for this wonderful model.
