[Yae Miko Cosplay] Genshin Impact Narukami Group: The Bond Between Fox and Shadow

This official Narukami Group set, completed together with Jinse at Jilin Fantasy Visual Studio, had photography and post-processing handled by B-kun. Right in the middle of the hot convention season, the studio maintained stable lighting. Ever since finalizing this project, we hoped to showcase the bonds and lightning across the land of Inazuma. As the cosplayer for Yae Miko cosplay, when preparing this costume, I specially compared many red and white fabrics. The bow at the waist, wide white sleeves, gold collar accents, and side slits all needed to maintain a flowing state when turning and swinging props. The Gohei prop had a heavy weight; after swinging it several times, my arm felt noticeably sore, but this provided realistic feedback during the performance, making movements steadier.

Jinse's Raiden Shogun cosplay this time was spot on with details—from intricate garment patterns and black thigh-high socks paired with platform shoes to the katana with blade lighting effects. We chose the power dynamic between the fox and shadow as the core expression of the duo photos, trying compositions like holding hands, back-to-back, and staggered standing poses. For solo photos, I chose a posture holding the Gohei in one hand and forming a hand seal with the other, hoping to convey the fox's composure and cunning within silence. Photographer B-kun used alternating warm and cool rim light in the studio, creating a highly translucent backlight effect on the wig that gave hair strands a glass-like luster. This faithfully recreated the divine atmosphere we aimed for, neither overly heavy nor lacking distinctive light and shadow layering.

During actual shooting, because the costume hem and cuffs were quite long, we went through many attempts to coordinate our steps. We needed to ensure visual tension without letting skirts trailing on the floor look messy. Thankfully, Fantasy Studio provided ample space, which, paired with the blue carpet laid out in the venue, created a cool-and-warm collision different from the in-game thunder environment. Our Meiqiguan dance group teammates also provided support during set setup and break intervals, helping adjust wigs and tassels with strict attention to every detail. Just as the characters share deep emotional connections, we felt full tacit understanding during our collaboration. Whether color saturation or facial expressions, this work went through multiple rounds of selection and discussion. Post-processing avoided over-smoothing skin, preserving natural skin texture and tones while reinforcing the balance between ethnic garment elements and 2D aesthetic sensibilities, making the photo style stand out from routine indoor studio work.

Looking at the final photos now, I feel all the effort poured into makeup, styling, and shooting process was deeply meaningful. From casting to scheduling, from minor costume tweaks to final prop confirmation, every step served the ultimate presentation. Whether that dazzling pink hair color or the calm aura under deep blue locks, both achieved our desired fusion before the lens. For cosplay, beyond final photos, there are many fun behind-the-scenes experiences—like shuttling back and forth with props or fixing each other's collars in the studio—and this interaction is very much part of the character experience.

Sharing photos on social platforms is mostly about recording our creative passion during this period. On the path to restoring characters, every dedicated makeup attempt and every professional Convention photography collaboration ultimately condenses into these still images. I truly enjoy expressing a character's core through visual mediums, especially when the camera captures those perfectly timed moments.
