The location for this shoot was chosen in a lush, green outdoor forest. The sunlight spilled down through layers of leaves, creating very vivid light spots. The original intention of releasing this photo set was to capture this healing aura belonging to nature. The main body of the outfit features a white base with green edges; the emerald decoration on the chest and the off-the-shoulder design not only reflect the character's divine nature but also add a touch of agility. The gradient treatment of the hair color is also a part I'm quite satisfied with; transitioning from silvery-white at the top to tender green at the tips, it coordinates perfectly with the overall natural color palette.
The light on the day of the shoot was actually quite strong; it was a very sunny day. While looking for camera angles, we deliberately picked a large, leafy tree as the background. During the shoot, I sat on a low gray stone wall. The photographer had to find a suitable low shooting angle to both avoid a cluttered background and use the green leaves above as a natural frame to wrap around the subject. The little green smiling plushie on top of my head was actually quite tricky. To keep it steadily on my head, we hid hairpins inside it. During the shoot, I had to keep my head steady so the plushie wouldn't fall. Although this process was a bit tiring, the result is incredibly cute.
Speaking of the barefoot setting, it's actually quite comfortable on flat ground, but sitting on a dusty stone wall inevitably gets some dust on the soles of the feet. The cleaning job was left to the post-production colleagues. This low-to-the-ground sitting posture, combined with the higher skin exposure of the lower garment, indeed shows off the leg lines better. This was also to visually reinforce the character's weightless, unworldly feeling.
Regarding this Genshin Impact Dendro Archon's Anime-style fashion, the biggest difficulty is actually achieving that "translucent feel". The fabric of the clothes can't be too heavy, nor can it be too see-through. To achieve this effect, we spent a long time picking out fabrics. The overall accessories are lightweight to avoid adding bulkiness to the character. For the on-camera expressiveness, I restrained my originally lively body language as much as possible to get closer to the gentle, inclusive divine traits of the character.
Looking at the previews in the viewfinder after the shoot, the sunlight happened to leave mottled light and shadows on the skirt through the gaps in the leaves. That moment was truly fulfilling. I think the charm of Cosplay photography lies in being able to materialize a specific moment envisioned in the 2D world through real-world scenes, light, and shadow. The Dendro Archon's setting is inherently closely linked to forests and knowledge; choosing to shoot in a real natural environment is much more vivid than studio lighting, though it certainly posed a significant challenge to the photographer's light-control skills.
Finally, I'm very grateful to my partner that day. We dodged mosquito bites while looking for the best camera angles in the bushes. We didn't choose overly complex background props this time, relying entirely on nature's gifts. In post-production, we didn't make too many massive alterations; it was mainly about restoring that clear summer feeling seen by our eyes at the time. This photo set took nearly a month from preparation to final output, but the moment I saw the final images, I felt all the hard work was worth it. I hope everyone can feel the lush, tranquil greenery this set of works aims to convey.
