[Denia Cosplay] Wuthering Waves' Illusory Reflection and the Gentle Dance of the Wand

This Denia look visually opts for a pink, white, and purple gradient main color scheme, paired with black details to increase the layers. The wig utilizes a high-saturation pinkish-purple twin-tail style, coordinated with small black bowknots, requiring great care in controlling the hair volume when styling. To recreate the character's aura, the long wand is the most core part of the prop design. The silver metallic wand shaft carries a certain weight, and its crescent top with avian details, plus that massive purple gemstone, forms beautiful highlight reflections under the studio lights. When holding the wand, mastering the center of gravity is critical; otherwise, lifting it for extended periods heavily tests arm strength. The black glossy high heels serve as the visual anchor for the lower body, forming a sharp color contrast with the white long dress, while also elongating the leg lines, demanding very high standards for standing and sitting postures.

This photoshoot selected a studio primarily featuring a romantic fantasy style. The highly reflective material of the floor is a highlight, instantly doubling the sense of space in the entire frame. To match the color tones of the wig and costume, we used a large amount of purple lightweight tulle during staging, letting it naturally drape down the right side of the frame to forge a hazy layering effect. Crystal candelabras paired with warm yellow faux candle lights injected a touch of cozy brightness into the cool-toned frame, while the floral arrangements utilized low-saturation pink and white blossoms. This reflective floor backdrop completely elevated the scene.

During the shoot, the photographer used a flash equipped with a softbox. Before stepping in front of the lens, I ironed and organized the large areas of the white skirt hemline and the collar's faux fur trim, ensuring the folds wouldn't cast chaotic shadows under the lights. The shoulder and neck design of this costume is incredibly exquisite, and paired with the black choker, it highlights the collarbones in close-up shots. In the actual shooting, to display the character's posture, I experimented with both keeping the back straight and slightly relaxing the shoulders. The application of mirror reflections required prior communication regarding angles to prevent any behind-the-scenes slip-ups, while also taking the form of the reflection into consideration.

As a cosplayer, recreating a character requires comprehension across multiple dimensions. Denia's innate elegance needs to be presented through a triple cooperation of costume, makeup, and body language. Because the light and venue space were limited, this time we leaned more toward alternating between partial close-ups and full-body mirror reflections. In terms of post-processing, the focus lay in unifying the ambient sense of the purple tones rather than over-smoothing the skin. Photography and post-processing are forms of secondary creation, and the process itself is the most precious part.
