Bringing Klee's look to a summer island made this outdoor shoot much more fun and challenging than expected. Since I usually do cosplays in studio setups or urban street scenes, switching to open watersides and sandy beaches required major adjustments to my state and photographic composition. The summer island wind carried the salty tang of seawater, and the sun shone directly on the skin, but these happened to be natural conditions for capturing bright, energetic images.

The details of this Klee Cosplay outfit prepared for this shoot are super eye-catching. The iconic wide-brimmed red pointed hat not only features large red color blocks, but also very natural black folds along the edges. Paired with the little red bow on the forehead and the flower decoration on top, the red comes through solid under outdoor sunlight. To recreate the character's agile charm, I wore prosthetic elf ears alongside a light golden wig; the shoot results turned out remarkably faithful to Genshin Impact settings. The thick black ruffled collar on the top neutralizes the white upper body, adding rich layering without looking monotonous. The massive red bow on the chest, adorned with a golden four-leaf clover, serves as the centerpiece of the entire look.

In the lower body design, the white apron hem is trimmed with a full ring of plush pom-poms, creating a cute, fluffy dynamic motion when walking. The double-buckle red waist belt and beige cross-body pouch lend a subtle functional aesthetic, symbolizing her identity as an adventurer. Lighting was abundant on the shooting day; the blue backdrop where sea met sky complemented the red, white, and black palette seamlessly, rendering the colors in these photos exceptionally bright.

During the shoot, the wind, waves, and soft sand presented challenges for posing. Because of strong outdoor breezes, the hat easily went askew and the wig got ruffled, requiring constant detail adjustments. Yet thanks to the wind, the photos didn't look rigid—the character's hemline and hair strands gained dynamic tension. The fourth photo, shot from a subtle low angle, is my personal favorite. The photographer took advantage of my naturally raised arm and slightly turned posture, paired with the light blue sky and distant mountains, fully outlining the character's vibrant energy. Sunlight hit my side just right, highlighting the dominant red tones with rich saturation, giving the composition a relaxed, vacation-like adventurous feel.

In my heart, Klee is a carefree little girl bouncing around Mondstadt, carrying her bombs and loving to explore new things with fearless childhood curiosity. Bringing her image to outdoor watersides to truly feel the ocean breeze and soft beach created a magical connection. I originally thought a pointed hat and heavy collar would feel sweltering under the blazing sun, but in the breezy outdoors, it wasn't uncomfortable at all. Thanks to the fabric's breathability and the refreshing feeling of the skirt blowing in the breeze, it was easier to slip into character and relax in front of the lens.

An Island location shoot involves many more factors than indoor shoots, such as constantly shifting outdoor light—if you don't catch the golden hours, the light turns harsh quickly. You also must mind loose sand underfoot to avoid tripping while posing. We tried several different angles and standings throughout the shoot—from high overhead shots to eye-level to low angles—adjusting body postures and expressions with the photographer to make this little adventurer come alive. Those four photos captured moments in different states: playful, quiet, and arms open wide to welcome the sea breeze.

This feeling of "living" with a character in different environments is perhaps the greatest joy of an Island location shoot for Anime cosplay. It's not just wearing an outfit; it allows fictional characters to share a moment of real breath in the sunshine and wind of the real world. Klee's story continues on her journey; for me, capturing her liveliness and brightness between the blue water and sky was a truly wonderful summer Cosplay photography experience.
