[Denia Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Custom Design Witch's Fantasy Flight Diary

Playing a human is just my part-time job on Earth, but when I changed into this outfit and sat in the studio, I instantly switched to the frequency of Wuthering Waves custom design witch Denia. Since I decided to visualize this fan-created character that I had been conceptualizing for a long time, both costume texture and lens language had to capture the essence of Damselette cosplay laziness laced with hidden magical power. Early preparation for this shoot took a very long time. First was sewing this outfit: the skirt hem used pinkish-orange mesh yarn of different densities and shades spliced and layered, with edges lined in delicate black lace, showing immense volume with every spin. The hollow heart decoration on the chest along with black lace-up waist cinching not only visually elongated body proportions but also gave the overall styling less heavy weight and a bit more playfulness. The exaggerated black wide-brimmed hat on top paired with lace folds, plus the small demon wings on the back, made the character's silhouette even sharper.

On the day of shooting, colleagues in the studio laughed, saying I looked like a real witch casting spells. The magic wand in my hand was designed with a structure featuring purple ribbons and black claws, feeling quite heavy in hand. To capture that floating sense of airborne flight in photos, I hid a movable black photography chair directly under the dress, curling one leg while extending the other straight down, relying on the backrest's support point to hold up my entire body. Maintaining this pose was actually a huge test of core strength; a few times I almost lost balance and fell with the props, but to present the lightest magical effect, these were all efforts worth making. The full-body shot in Photo 3 froze this dynamic motion; black over-the-knee socks and black single shoes elongated leg lines, working with studio lighting of different color temperatures on both sides to make the wings and wig textures appear exceptionally translucent.

Regarding the understanding of Denia's character, I actually leaned more towards capturing her state as a "little witch drifting outside human daily life." Therefore, for makeup, I specially chose bright blue contact lenses paired with pink-purple to ice-blue gradient pigtails, using earth tones for eye makeup base while slightly pulling out eye corners, maintaining the character's inherent mystery while appearing approachable enough. The overall pink and black color contrast of the outfit actually pays homage to a lava cake palette, attempting to blend sweet and dark elements together. In terms of shooting details, although studio shooting allows great control over light, creating a natural yet fantasy-tinged visual effect still required repeated communication with the photographer. For instance, the bending angle of the arm when holding the wand or how low the hat was pressed would affect the temperament of the final frame.

This kind of Custom design cosplay is actually very interesting because there are no absolute rights or wrongs or standard answers; it depends entirely on understanding and interpreting the soul of the character oneself. For this photo release, I trimmed the front bangs of the wig several times in advance just to make them form the softest arc under the hat brim. The addition of the pearl bracelet was to retain a touch of delicacy that a human girl should have amidst the overall dark and exaggerated attire. Recreating a fan-created character conceived by oneself through Witch cosplay is like materializing one's thoughts and wearing them; although taking off and putting on everything from wig to costume takes an hour or two each time, when the final photo is taken and I see myself on the display looking truly like a witch walking out of a painting, this sense of accomplishment is hard to accurately describe in words. This is not only a visual attempt, but also a self-dialogue about character creation.
