Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, and this studio shoot of Wuthering Waves' Iuno wrapped up right on time. The costume actually features far more details than expected—especially the golden cloud embroidery and the piped edges, which revealed an exceptional texture under studio lighting. The fabric itself carries a lovely drape that keeps movements looking sleek rather than bulky. For the blue-and-white gradient wig, I experimented with multiple styles, spending considerable time trimming and shaping, before finally choosing a look adorned with small fluffy pom-poms and golden ornaments; the strands fall gracefully across the shoulders and arms, perfectly complementing the overall blue-and-white palette with an airy, dynamic feel.
For this shoot, I adjusted the makeup by deepening the red gradient around the eyes, paired with crimson contact lenses to give the gaze a more captivating, piercing quality. The studio in Guangzhou was set up with immense care: white cherry blossom branches against a massive moon backdrop effortlessly set the mood for a moonlit Mid-Autumn evening stroll. During the shoot, the photographer suggested holding a round Chinese fan painted with birds and blossoms, which instantly elevated the classical ambiance alongside the wooden daybed. The white plush rabbit prop on the couch was another wonderful touch—soft and cuddly in hand, making natural interactions effortless. To match the Mid-Autumn festival theme, I introduced subtle touches to the poses: for example, lying on my side allowed the leg lines to extend naturally, and wearing White socks brought a delicate, relaxed girlish charm, with the instep slightly pointed to look even more flattering on camera. In addition, the golden torque collar layered with the blue beaded necklace at the neckline filled out the collar area, making the styling feel richer and more ornate.
Studio photography tests lighting above all. To highlight the jacquard patterns on the garment and carve out facial contours, the key light was angled slightly off-center; this enhanced facial dimension and captured the vibrant crimson eyes beautifully, all while preventing large areas of white fabric from blowing out. The high contrast between the dark backdrop and the luminous moon focused visual attention squarely on the face and intricate clothing details. Throughout the shoot, I continuously regulated my breathing and gaze, using the round fan for peeking gestures or playful poses to express Iuno's blend of mystical grace and endearing charm. Sitting on the traditional wooden couch with fruit and pastries displayed on the adjacent tea table—even though they were just props—made the immersion complete. Holding poses for extended periods in classical studio shoots is physically demanding, and capturing garment textures alongside fine hair accessories places high demands on focal lengths, but seeing the final photos with their rich fabric textures and nuanced light and shadow made every bit of effort worth it. All in all, I'm delighted with how this classical studio shoot turned out, especially how well it aligned with the Mid-Autumn full moon theme, bringing both character silhouette and styling details fully to life.
