For the Mid-Autumn Festival, I decided to try on this long-prepared outfit to immerse myself in the character's mindset ahead of time. First, let's talk about the costume: the off-the-shoulder white lace top is packed with rich details. The choker-style high collar is set with a massive oval green gemstone, cascading into pink satin ribbons and pearl pendants that create wonderful dimensional layering. The 3D floral accents on the pink translucent puff sleeves are sculpted with exquisite finesse. The overarching palette centers on white, pink, and black, grounded by a waist corset featuring gold filigree over a blue base; under the studio lights, the tailored silhouette presents a gentle, refined texture.
Regarding the makeup, to align with the character's facial features, I specifically chose vibrant cyan-blue colored contacts with outstanding pigment payoff. The foundation was kept clean and flawless, while the eye makeup focused on sculpted eyeliner and lashes, extending the outer eye corners to lend the eyes a more spirited, commanding presence. For the lips, I selected an orange-leaning shade that brightened my complexion without appearing overly harsh. Once the wig was secured, I carefully smoothed the directional flow of the bangs and the flyaways along both sides—especially the cyan-blue highlight strands near the ends, which had to be combed straight bit by bit to appear natural. White lace hair accessories were fastened to both sides of the crown, imparting a cool yet lavish charm to the entire ensemble.
During the test shoot, I picked up the black folding fan. The fan ribs have a remarkably tactile feel; when partially veiling my face with downcast eyes, the lens caught the fine lace of the attire and the chest gemstone with absolute clarity. In the first photo, I chose to look directly into the camera, aiming to project a serene yet focused demeanor; the second shot, looking down at the fan, was intended to highlight the softly hooded eye makeup and the structural neckline of the garment. Although this outfit includes quite a few intricate accessories, seeing the finished look once fully dressed was a delightful surprise.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is inherently imbued with romance, and experimenting with a new costume and makeup test at this festive time felt exceptionally meaningful. With light washing over my face, the cyan-blue contacts gleamed before the lens, while dark hair and white robes formed a striking contrast. Throughout the shoot, I continuously calibrated my angles, seeking seamless harmony between the props and the scene. Every makeup test is truly a conversation with the character: from hairstyle adjustments to polishing garment nuances, patient dedication is always required. On this day of wishing loved ones longevity and shared moonlight across a thousand miles, even though it was merely an indoor trial log, this dedication and focus brought immense joy in itself. This test run gave me far more confidence for the upcoming formal shoot, and I eagerly look forward to taking this costume outdoors to capture even more light and shadow.
