Working with the photographer at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo over New Year's was an absolute joy; the Roman pillars and reflective flooring on set added tremendous depth to each shot. This shoot brought Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail to life. Since I adore character designs with an elf cosplay touch, I made meticulous adjustments during prep so the elf ears blended seamlessly and looked organic. The costume was crafted from lustrous satin paired with a gradient tulle skirt, offering rich dimensional layers against the polished floor. The most notable element was the grand bow in hand—while gloriously ornate, holding it for extended stretches was exhausting, especially while holding full-draw stances. To capture her graceful poise, I intentionally shifted my center of gravity during shooting, such as engaging my ankles for balance when lifting a leg to draw the bow, which accentuated leg contours without appearing rigid.
Regarding the styling details everyone has asked about, I chose white tights paired with chunky platform high heels accented by pearl chains. This pairing aimed for a dreamy, fantasy aesthetic, but in the crowded convention halls, moving and standing required immense care—especially keeping the white tights pristine. Throughout the shoot, seated poses offered the best way to relax into the frame; cradling my knees or sitting with legs angled sideways not only flattered my leg lines, but also let the voluminous skirt train sweep across the floor for dramatic visual impact.
The venue staging was thoughtfully arranged: white classical columns and draped curtains shielded us from the chaotic convention crowds, casting soft illumination that caught my hair and the blue roses gorgeously. When shooting that high leg-lift bow-drawing pose, my legs were already burning, but I powered through with grit to ensure the camera caught that weightless, airy elegance. These photos highlight the costume's fine craftsmanship from diverse angles, and the photographer had an incredible instinct for freezing the flutter of the skirt hem.
Wrapping up the day, my feet bore the brunt of the fatigue; the shoes were quite stiff, and high heels amplified the physical strain, so I highly recommend that anyone attempting this look pack flat shoes as a backup. The interplay of light, shadow, and fabric textures rendered wonderfully under the expo lighting. As an exciting foray into this character and styling, this shoot was an immensely rewarding journey.
