[Sparkle Cosplay] Sparkle from Honkai: Star Rail: Restoration Maxed Out

Sparkle from Honkai: Star Rail—this outfit has a strong personal style from concept design to the physical garment. Taking advantage of the weekend, I booked a studio shoot for a full set and adjusted the entire look to its most comfortable state.

This costume was custom-made from @JiangnanMiaoci, and my first impression holding it was how solid the overall texture felt. The color blocking of the three main colors—red, black, and white—is crisp, while the gold bow tie with a plum blossom pattern on the chest and the central keyhole ornament are exquisitely detailed. The outfit's silhouette fits the shoulder line tightly; the neck ruffles and black fan-shaped decorations on the hem avoid looking bulky, instead giving the body a taller, sleeker look. The shoes paired are classic black platform boots with a red strap around the shaft, echoing the red-and-white argyle pattern on the chest. The skirt is a fluffy white pleated hem with a well-concealed waistline cinching, making the overall proportions visually striking once put on.

The biggest highlight of this photoshoot was actually the giant red glove staff in my hand. In large-scale Prop making, paint application and scratch resistance require meticulous care. To ensure it stood upright during shooting, the interior was balanced for center of gravity; though carrying some weight, it doesn't tilt to one side. The red hand portion is strikingly vivid; due to its high color saturation, it instantly captures visual focus during studio shooting against a solid black background. The prop surface features a glossy lacquer finish, reflecting light beautifully to create strong three-dimensional depth. To complement this oversized prop, I slightly exaggerated my pose range—holding it to mask my face or pointing it toward the camera delivered much more impactful results than smaller props.

For makeup, I tried a red-toned lens approach using reddish-brown contact lenses, highly compatible with the character's setting. The eye makeup emphasized highlighting, decorated below the eyes with diamond and heart glitter stickers—accent elements that make the face more memorable in close-up shots. To match the overall whimsical and playful vibe, I chose a long straight wig with a white-to-pink gradient. The hair stylist added side braids and soft curls; paired with rabbit ear decorations on the hat, it maintained high consistency with the costume's red, black, and white colors, creating a cohesive look.

The first round of shooting used a solid black backdrop to highlight the silhouette of the subject and costume. Once lights hit, fine shimmers on the wig and skin highlights popped clearly, making eyes look remarkably bright in close-up shots. During shooting breaks, a black-and-white spotted bunny hopped into the frame, allowing us to capture lively, natural interaction shots—paired with subtle surprised looks and tongue-out playful expressions, the ambiance was maxed out. Naturally, a full-length mirror shot was a must for full-body coverage, showcasing not only the outfit structure but fully displaying the giant glove size and boot pairing; the side silhouette combining twintails and fluffy skirt hem looked stunning.

Color grading across the photoset stayed close to the original setting's aesthetic, with shadows deepened so that the white wig and red prop stand out intensely, creating powerful visual tension. Though some clothing details might recede into the black background, using hard rim lights brought out edge highlights, making fabric folds and material textures even more distinct. With Prop making, costume, and hair/makeup working together, I am personally very satisfied with the final result. Experiencing the physical weight of props while dressed in a beloved character's costume truly deepens immersion into Casual cosplay and Anime-style fashion.
