[Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae Cosplay] With Heaven and Earth as the Horizontal Axis, Seeking That Sole Way Home

The moment I put on this black and white color-blocked outfit accented with teal-green, along with the horns and pointed ears, the tone for this photoshoot was set. This setup was quite heavy, especially the unique bluish-white pauldrons on the left shoulder featuring intricate cutouts, gold trim, and tassels. While the physical texture was amazing, its weight and complex wearability gave my makeup artist and me quite a workouts beforehand.

We shot across two distinct sets with two completely different vibes. The first set and third photo feature a dark red diamond-quilted leather sofa against a deep blue glowing backdrop filled with water-drop or energy-flow bokeh light spots. This high contrast between warm and cool tones, paired with my seated pose holding the long polearm, created a distinct sci-fi spaceship cabin atmosphere. The second photo was taken in a classical indoor space filled with paper lanterns, calligraphy art, and plum blossom bonsai. The warm yellow light hitting the white outfit softened my silhouette, instilling a deep ancient style cosplay aesthetic.

I personally love the design of the long polearm weapon; its spearhead is teal-blue with gold rimming and feels satisfyingly weighty in hand. To ensure the spearhead and body posture formed a clean diagonal across the frame, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted several stances. The seated poses were especially demanding, requiring my gaze to sit parallel or slightly angled up toward the lens, testing core stability in the waist and shoulders.

Speaking of the creative spirit behind this roleplay, the post caption deeply touched me: \"With heaven and earth as the horizontal axis, and time as the vertical axis, I will find that singular point. Even if I must travel every corner of these mountains and lands on foot... I will bring you home.\" This quote fits the unwavering determination inherent to this character setup. During the shoot, I aimed to convey this resolve through facial expressions, balancing cold sternness and tranquility without looking lost or overly stiff.

For post-processing color grading, we avoided exaggerated edits, preserving the natural lighting foundation of the studio. For instance, in the sofa set, we directly enhanced the cool-warm contrast between the blue ambient light and skin tones. For the classical set, we added a subtle film grain texture to give the wooden furniture a richer vintage feel. The black subtle patterns and gold embroidery on the outfit reflected distinctly at specific angles, which the photographer captured beautifully.

As a complete cosplay presentation, every step—from early character research, costume and prop prep, to mid-stage makeup and on-set lighting, down to final post-edits—represented the team's heart and effort. Behind the scenes, it was actually pretty hilarious: due to the elaborate outfit, moving between sets required me to carry the heavy spear, drag the teal-blue tail, and dodge delicate set props, feeling like playing a real-life maze game. But seeing the final photos made all the exhaustion melt away. That's the unique magic of cosplay—using your real body to touch another world.
