This set of photos for Elysia's "Jiyu Chanjuan" outfit is finally ready. This time, I completed the shoot with photographer Ya Li twqaicy in a studio, and I am very satisfied with the overall result. When choosing the location, we specially picked this courtyard set with a wooden structure and Japanese shoji doors. The natural wood tone paired with blooming cherry blossom branches beautifully accentuates the pink-and-white color scheme and elegant atmosphere of this costume.
During the shoot, light was the soul of this set of photos. We tried our best to shoot under natural light after 3 PM. The slanting sun passed through the wooden lattices, leaving dappled light and shadow on the ground and clothing. The advantage of this approach is that it avoids the need for too many artificial flashes while allowing the white fabric with gold rims and the pink sheer fabric to present a highly translucent texture, while also making the reflection of the golden accessories more natural. To maintain the layering of the costume, we intentionally avoided piling up the long skirt hem during the sitting poses, instead letting it spread out naturally on the wooden floor.
The few shots of drinking matcha and holding the rabbit were actually completed within a very tight timeframe, as we had to balance keeping the little white rabbit calm while candidly capturing the movement of lifting the skirt hem. Fortunately, the personality of the character Elysia naturally carries that playfulness and tenderness, so I also tried my best to relax during the performance, hoping to convey her sense of ease while playing in the courtyard.
In post-processing, the main focus was on the cleanliness of the colors. No heavy filters were applied; instead, a color grading style with soft highlights, low contrast, or rather a Morandi color palette was used, allowing the pink and white colors to blend more naturally while preserving the original embroidery patterns of the costume. As a fan of Elysia, being able to wear this "Jiyu Chanjuan" outfit for a photoshoot is in itself a very memorable thing. I hope that in this attempt, everyone can see my dedication to the character and scene performance. That's all for this sharing, and there will be more photos of the same outfit from other angles later.
