I am really satisfied with the texture of this convention photography work; it primarily comes from the precise control of lighting positions to create an atmosphere. Many friends have asked how I achieve this cinematic feel with so few lights—the core actually lies in the layering of light and shadow. In fact, a three-light array is sufficient; there is no need to pile up complex equipment to achieve a high-end feel.

In operation, I set the key light as the cornerstone for shaping the character's image, using a Godox AD200pro with an 8080 softbox, which provides very soft and directional light, beautifully outlining the textures of the face and costume. The rim light is used to strengthen the character's silhouette, separating the person from the complex background and increasing spatial depth. Finally, I added a fill light to balance the lighting ratio, preventing the shadow areas from turning completely black. This low-cost, high-return lighting layout is very friendly for photography beginners who want to improve the quality of their convention photography. Every cosplay costume can reveal its unique texture and details under the right light and shadow; this art of light and shadow is more important than simply piling up equipment. This is a practical Photography Tutorial for anyone interested in Textured light and shadow.
