Today, I shot an official Zenless Zone Zero cosplay photoshoot set inside an arcade. The overall palette of this outfit features a classic clash of bright pink and black—a cropped pink tank top printed with white lettering across the chest on top, layered over a black leather corset cincher and a ruffled mini skirt. To enhance visual layering, the detached sleeves were designed as loose white flare sleeves accented with black leather straps and metal buckles. The asymmetrical legwear is a major highlight of this ensemble: one leg sports cutout-patterned black stockings with a leather thigh garter, while the other features white leggings printed with linear geometric patterns, anchored by chunky black combat boots laced with pink strings and fluffy pom-poms for an intense street-fashion edge.
For makeup, matching the character lore meant placing heavy emphasis on reddish blending along the lower eyelids paired with pinkish contact lenses, evoking an enigmatic, softly languid gaze. The hair was styled into blonde twintails with braided detailing at the tips, tied with white plush pom-poms and black ribbons, and accented with tiny black cross clips at the crown. For props, I prepared a polearm weapon featuring a golden spiral tip; it carried noticeable heft in hand, requiring careful posture control to sustain bodily balance during takes.
Choosing an arcade as our shooting location was deliberate—the neon glow and arcade cabinets harmonized seamlessly with the street-smart aesthetic of this Pink-themed outfit. The arcade offered rich multi-chromatic lighting, with purples, pinks, and blues weaving together and catching the reflective textures of the clothing and wig, boosting overall scene contrast. Framing with cabinet screens as foreground bokeh or perching atop arcade setups with crossed legs yielded fantastic compositions.
The shooting process was remarkably fun. Since I joked in the caption notes about being an adorable 'goofy snake', I explored plenty of relaxed, playful, and even slightly tipsy-feeling expressions before the lens. Poses ranged from holding snack bags while flashing peace signs and biting my lip while locking eyes with the camera, to gripping the weapon in battle-ready stances. To diversify my body language, I utilized round tables and glass display counters on location—leaning casually or glancing back over my shoulder to flatter bodily curves.
Lighting proved to be the primary hurdle of this session because the arcade's ambient light was erratic with shifting color temperatures. Fortunately, we brought large-aperture lenses to let the ambient neon paint the background while using portable fill lights to illuminate facial features and wardrobe textures. With varied fabrics spanning matte cotton tanks to glossy leather corsets, fill lighting demanded delicate handling to prevent blown-out highlights and preserve textile definition.
The shooting pace remained effortless throughout, and I am personally thrilled with the resulting frames. From the nuanced styling of the garments to the electric ambiance of the set, the pieces came together to achieve far more than the sum of their parts. Blending in-game aesthetics into a real-world arcade setting never felt out of place—instead, it delivered a delightfully engaging convergence of virtual fantasy and reality.
