[Ellen Joe cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Joy City Street Quick Shoot, Techwear Maid Outfit Hits the Streets

Under the neon nightlights of Joy City, this quick shoot set of Ellen Joe cosplay is finally ready. Although Zenless Zone Zero hasn't been officially released yet, I completely fell in love with the Shark girl setting during the Amplifying Test; both her combat animations and daily demeanor exude a sense of detached sharpness. This preparation was quite rushed, mainly to test the real-world shooting effect of this black-and-white techwear maid outfit and see if the overall cut and proportions were suitable. Only after actually putting it on did I realize the garment details were much richer than expected. The white ruffles at the collar and cuffs look soft, but the belt buckles and black metal chains at the waist and skirt hem, combined with the intentionally crafted black dashed stitching, forcibly pull the traditional softness of a maid outfit into a dark street fighter aesthetic. The striking red square patchwork at the cuffs is one of the soul elements of this outfit, popping out from the small areas of black and white to catch the eye immediately.

The foot traffic at Joy City that night was quite heavy, and being an outdoor night shoot, it really tested the photographer's candid capturing and composition skills. The colorful neon signs in the background, blurred out with a wide-aperture lens, turned into atmospheric colored bokeh, matching my rather cold-faced expression perfectly. Many friends asked if it was awkward to shoot a dark aesthetic in a commercial street at night. Actually, once you enter the character's state and completely imagine yourself as Ellen Joe, the passersby just become a blurry background.

I particularly like that slightly indifferent, confident, and even tsundere gaze, which is the starting point for saying 'just love this kind of look.' During the shoot, I tried my best to emulate Ellen Joe's seemingly languid yet ready-to-engage oppressive presence. There was one pose where I squatted deeply and looked back, originally intended to show off the large tail and weapon gear. However, due to that massive black-and-white patterned accessory and my own center of gravity, I almost lost my balance. Fortunately, we managed to capture that sense of pre-explosive power. Currently, because her signature weapon prop hasn't arrived yet, I feel it lacks a bit of a soul and cannot fully restore the character's full appearance from the game.

Black stockings cosplay elements actually add a lot of bonus points to this look, especially when paired with the chunky black glossy loafers on my feet. When standing, it visually elongates the leg proportions, and when squatting, it carries an inherent sharp tension. The overall lighting and shadow texture this time perfectly met my expectations for a cyberpunk night street vibe. Compared to the deliberate lighting of a studio shoot, the outdoor ambient light of Joy City adds a touch of everyday urban life. The wig was trimmed to fit my face shape quite well, and the bangs are just the right length to not cover my eyes, revealing a bit of the red earring detail which catches the eye even in low light. The red highlights at the tips make the black hair no longer look dull.

This set is just testing the waters. Later, when the Shark girl's exclusive weapon and more small accessories are fully assembled, I want to plan another more thematic shoot. I'll strive to find a setting that better fits the Zenless Zone Zero lore, such as abandoned streets, overpasses, or industrial rooftops. For someone who loves the Zenless Zone Zero setting, being able to put on a favorite character piece by piece and then record it through the lens is a particularly fulfilling experience in itself.
