[Tsukiyuki Miyako Cosplay] Blue Archive Summer Swimsuit: Sharing a Refreshing Vibe by the Water

Early summer temperatures in Guangzhou have already been climbing rapidly. Taking advantage of the water park's opening season, I arranged with photographer @dj君 to shoot this Blue Archive Tsukiyuki Miyako cosplay swimsuit location set. Although the most troublesome part of the early preparations was combating the stuffiness of the wig under high temperatures, the overall shooting experience was much more liberating compared to heavy armor or formal dress outfits. The water quality at the shooting location was very clear, which, paired with the light-colored sand, naturally brought a clean and bright atmosphere.

For the costume, we chose this modified school swimsuit with a blue-and-white color scheme. The white off-the-shoulder ruffles not only define the shoulder and arm lines but also visually brighten the skin tone when paired with the dark blue bottoms. In terms of accessories, besides the character's exclusive halo effect, a cat-ear headband was added from certain perspectives as a variation detail, giving the entire photo a more lively and cute attribute. The hand-held pink animal phone case is an interactive prop I personally love; it not only replaces traditional long weapons but also fits the casual feel of the swimsuit theme perfectly, making the frame look less staged.

The difficulty of the shoot lay in controlling the light spots on the water surface. This time, the photographer chose to start shooting around 4:00 PM, an optimal angle for rim lighting. Utilizing a high-key soft lighting technique, the piercing sky was darkened while brightening the shimmering reflections of the water ripples, giving the backdrop a transparent and sparkling aesthetic that perfectly matches the dreamy water scenes in anime works. In terms of composition, we experimented with different angles such as leaning forward, sitting, and kneeling, which, combined with the naturally forward-draping long hair, broke up the stiffness of static posing.

In fact, for this kind of summer water-side swimsuit cosplay, the more relaxed and natural the movements, the better the final result usually turns out. When sitting inside the swim ring, the placement of the hands and the shift in the center of gravity need to be slightly adjusted to avoid the flesh on the stomach being squeezed into awkward bulges. At this moment, the photographer's experience is crucial; by controlling the camera height, he beautifully averted body shape distortions caused by shooting angles. The posture of leaning forward slightly places high demands on tightening the waist and abdomen, which, combined with the muscle lines of the legs, strives to present the character's detached yet slightly lazy temperament.

For cosplayers who want to try a similar shooting theme, my personal advice is that the most important aspects of swimsuit location photography are paying attention to the lighting and water quality. Overhead lighting at noon will leave unsightly shadows and can easily overexpose water reflections into a flat dead white. Try your best to choose shooting spots with clean backgrounds, avoiding crowds and cluttered sun umbrellas, so that the final photos can achieve a translucent effect. Additionally, the sizing of the swimsuit requires special attention; an appropriate level of skin exposure and tailoring will directly affect the final visual quality of the photos.
