This Azur Lane Akimitsu cosplay styling really put a lot of thought into the selection of costume materials. To fit the theme of Spiritual Fine Jade, the main fabric chose a dark blue satin with a subtle sheen, and the slit design extended directly to the middle of the thigh. Paired with the inner black shorts, when walking, the cyan-green feather prints and gradient layers at the bottom of the skirt can be fully displayed. The black lace neck ornament around the neck is the visual center of gravity for the upper body, matched with bright blue feather sleeve covers, giving the overall color contrast a very high level.
The shooting day happened to be the August 14th Cooling Festival. Rows of emerald bamboo and dark wooden sofas were arranged on-site, which fit exceptionally well with this styling that leans towards Chinese classical style with a touch of fantasy. Because satin materials tend to absorb light, a softbox was deliberately used during on-site lighting to suppress reflections, trying to preserve the shadow texture of the clothing while making the blue feathers more layered under the light source.
Shooting on a wooden sofa in high heels and black stockings for a whole afternoon meant sore feet were inevitable. Due to the high-slit design, to ensure no accidental exposure during wide movements, quite a few anti-slip stickers were applied to the inner thighs. Especially for the pose sitting on the sofa with legs raised, in order to fully showcase the lines of the gold leg ring and stockings, a slight deviation in angle would make the overall composition look flat. The bright blue feathers on the feather sleeve covers are also quite delicate and easily deformed under pressure; every time a group was shot, they had to be carefully straightened out by hand. Matching the silver-gray wig, the makeup featured a reddish-toned eyeshadow with intentionally elongated outer corners of the eyes to make the gaze look sharper, while the lips chose a full, vibrant red, attempting to find a balance between aloofness and sexiness.
Although this outfit consists of only a layer of sheer tulle and a few feathers, wearing it in reality imposes quite a bit of restriction on body shape; straps at the back need to be tightened to ensure the lace on the chest fits snugly. From design sketches to the physical item, and finally to the interplay of light and shadow presented before the lens, the process was trivial, but seeing the texture of the feathers and fabrics against the backlight in the final photos, this sense of realization is the most substantial part.
