[Multi-style photoshoot] Dongxing ACG Exhibition Outdoor cosplay Log: Collision of Dark Gothic and Elf Aesthetics

Yesterday, I wrapped up this outdoor Multi-style photoshoot at the Dongxing ACG Exhibition. Arriving early at the venue, our primary task was finishing base makeup and combing through the wigs. To bring out the best texture across wigs of different colors, I conditioned the hair fibers beforehand and set the roots with styling spray. Today, I brought four main styling sets in total—from short blue hair to long white locks, onto dark green twin tails and long straight light-blue tresses; every costume change was an entirely new adventure in cosplay.

Take the short blue hair styling first: paired with a black-and-white lace-trimmed dress evoking a Gothic style maid, the eye makeup needed to be drawn relatively sharp. To give the eyes extra sparkle and presence, I chose highly pigmented color contacts and layered dark eyeshadow at the outer corners. For the black Gothic dress set, the focal point shifted to posture calibration. This outfit featured exquisite lace gloves and a cross pendant at the neckline; to highlight the silhouette lines, I tested various standing stances, striving to let my body project an elegant, poised stretch. The photographer was exceptionally skilled at utilizing ambient lighting and the depth of the staircases at the Dongxing ACG Exhibition, pairing them with a wide-aperture lens to cleanly blur the background and vividly accentuate both the character and garment nuances.

Switching over to the white long dress featuring Elf ear makeup and styling, the overall ambiance relaxed considerably. Wearing elf ears demands meticulous attention to blending the edges into the skin; I applied special-effects adhesive and dabbed a touch of concealer along the seams so no jarring boundary lines showed up on camera. The layered curls of the long white wig were beautifully structured, and set against fresh outdoor greenery, natural sunlight washing over the hair strands delivered stunning texture. Another look featuring an orange high ponytail with red horns required more dynamic, energetic body language. I tried leaning forward and reaching out toward the camera, paired with slightly exaggerated expressions to infuse the frame with lively interaction.

For the ancient-style look with green twin tails, braiding and fixing the topknot bun was absolutely critical; because of the hot weather, I had to constantly guard against flyaways and firmly blot away shine on the forehead and nose wings during touch-ups. Overall, shooting from dawn to dusk at the Dongxing ACG Exhibition was a huge physical drain, yet every look produced distinct, captivating results. By altering eyebrow shapes, shifting makeup intensity, and changing bodily tension points, the distinct aura conveyed across each finished cut was palpable. Outdoor shooting is a rigorous test of mastering lighting—especially under top harsh light or side-backlight, requiring prompt adjustments to facial angles. This multi-character exploration gave me a much deeper understanding of camera presence and how to harmonize makeup and styling.
