Today, I shot this Yixuan cosplay in a spacious, large exhibition hall. The structure of the location was quite sharp and solid, featuring high metal truss ceilings, large doorways in the background, and grey walls, giving the whole spacious environment an industrial flair. It was precisely this quiet, empty backdrop that fit so well with the character's independent, cool, and aloof temperament.
For clothing material selection, I specifically used a high-gloss black leather jacket. Leather texture is entirely different from ordinary fabric, carrying its own fierce and sharp presence. To match the structured stiffness of the leather jacket, I chose a white lapel shirt and metallic accessories as the inner layer, paired with an asymmetrical white pleated mini-skirt underneath. Set against the dark tone of the leather jacket, the white skirt created a sharp visual contrast, adding lightness to the overall outfit so it didn't look overly heavy. The pleated skirt was just the right length for easy movement, and its layered hem looked wonderfully flowy when walking.
To highlight the character's slender physique, I paired it with black platform high heels and shiny stockings. This combination visually elongated leg proportions while adding a trendy, stylish edge to the overall look. However, standing in these high heels all day in the hall was definitely a severe test of foot strength, especially when maintaining an upright posture where the ankles and balls of the feet bear immense force. During the shoot, the photographer emphasized posture control; the leather jacket itself has considerable weight, and combined with various metal fittings and decorations on the outfit, exuding the character's calmness and confidence actually consumed a lot of physical energy battling gravity. To show that composed aura, I tried my best to relax my shoulders while keeping my back straight, which required fine-tuning my angles repeatedly in front of the camera.
In terms of photography techniques, we heavily utilized backlit studio photography methods. There were many overhead lights on the ceiling, so we deliberately positioned the light sources behind me. The intense white light hitting my hair formed a brilliant rim light, making me pop out against the background. This backlighting effect not only made my hair look striking, but also created a lovely translucent halo along the black edges of the jacket, making the fabric texture stand out even more. Meanwhile, the smooth, light-colored floor tiles of the hall reflected my shoes like a mirror. This ground reflection greatly enhanced the sense of depth in the frame, making full-body shots look more 3D and sophisticated.
As for the theme "How is today's fortune~?", I feel Yixuan's temperament naturally carries a mysterious sense of strategic mastery. During shooting, I tried to echo this theme with gentle body language, such as raising my hand to lightly stroke the hair across my forehead or slightly turning my body toward the camera, pondering that state of being both strategic yet effortlessly relaxed through subtle movements. Combined with the lines of the outfit and the geometric feel of the space, the entire photo set conveys a quiet yet powerful atmosphere.
In fact, every time I cosplay a character with a cool and aloof style, I need to pay close attention to clarity and translucency in makeup. Since the outfit already consists of heavy blacks and whites, makeup shouldn't be overly thick, or it will look muddy. This time, I focused on defining the gaze, using earth-toned eyeshadow and sharp eyeliner to enhance eye sharpness. For lip color, I chose a matte dusty rose/nude tone, which brightened my complexion without overpowering the rest of the look. The wig was also trimmed with distinct layering, and its silver-white color looked especially beautiful and soft under backlighting.
Overall, this set of photos was a concrete attempt to capture the character's temperament. The combination of the bold black glossy leather jacket and the gentle beauty of the white skirt, paired with smooth floor reflections and top lighting rim effects, ultimately restored the cool, aloof visual atmosphere belonging to the Zenless Zone Zero world as I imagined it.
