[Nanally cosplay] Neverness to Everness Nanally's Loungewear Catgirl Daily Life

In preparing for this loungewear shoot of Nanally from Neverness to Everness, I put a lot of effort into the wig and makeup beforehand. The short pink hair needed layered trimming to flatter the face shape, and the bangs were fine-tuned to better fit a relaxed, lazy at-home vibe. For makeup, the red contact lenses are the soul of the look, which, combined with generously blended blush and faux freckles dotted under the eyes, looks wonderfully vibrant in close-up shots. This shoot mainly adopted a bed selfie perspective; the white ruffled top of the loungewear is quite tricky with lighting, as any slight mistake can wash out the fabric texture. The black plush cat-ear hat is the focal highlight of the entire ensemble—I deliberately adjusted the white wings, stars, and paw-print pins to the most prominent spots. The black bowtie on the chest paired with the golden bell adds an extra touch of refinement. To heighten the Catgirl ambiance, black plush cat paw mittens were an absolute must, and the pink paw pads brought great interactivity to the camera.

During shooting breaks, I even grabbed a hairbrush prop nearby to play with for a bit; its fuzzy texture was super soothing. Lying on the white bedsheet and holding the phone to find angles, extending a hand toward the lens created perspective that made the composition much more impactful. This outfit is genuinely comfortable to wear, with light, breathable fabric that doesn't feel stuffy even during a long shoot. When capturing this set, I deliberately set up a clean background by the bed to avoid cluttered items entering the frame. Wanting to convey an effortless, casual loungewear state, I tried to keep expressions and poses as natural as possible without looking stiff. For instance, in the first photo, I reached my cat-paw-mitten-clad hand forward, using the smartphone's wide-angle distortion to make the mitten the visual anchor of the frame while slightly tilting my head with an innocent gaze. In the bottom half of the collage, I shifted to a closer crop looking straight into the camera—this required precise pupil focus, otherwise the red lenses could appear lifeless.

The lighting was very soft, formed by natural light diffusing across the white sheets, which prevented harsh facial shadows and gave my skin a translucent, dewy look. Additionally, the gold star and black bow on the chest, along with the gold bell around my neck, stood out vividly against the light; their metallic shine contrasted with the black plush, instantly bringing out layered textural depth. I adore the design of this cat-ear hat: the inner ears are pink, creating a charming contrast against the black base, while the white embellishments keep the hat from looking monotonous. Since the whole look leans towards 2D cute aesthetics, I aligned with the commissioner beforehand to emphasize that fluffy, soft texture.

In managing the makeup, the foundation was deliberately kept pale to match the complexion of 2D characters, but dusted with ample pink blush across the cheeks and the tip of the nose. This technique looks full of vitality on camera, though it might appear slightly exaggerated in person—a hallmark of cosplay makeup. The ends of the wig were given a slight curl to avoid looking flat or stiff. During the shoot, white earphone cords were tangled around the phone, a detail that unexpectedly echoed the white accents on the hat—a happy coincidence! Shooting in bed made arm support quite tiring, especially holding the phone with one hand while reaching forward with the other; holding core stability was crucial to prevent motion blur. Every seemingly effortless photo took multiple angle adjustments behind the scenes.

Working with commissioner @风雨来记 went very smoothly; from styling discussions to post-execution, they provided tremendous support. As someone who cosplays frequently, I feel that presenting a character's everyday downtime outside of combat or specific plotlines tests one's true understanding of their persona. Even in simple loungewear, one must strike a delicate balance between comfortable ease and character fidelity. The long fur on the mittens occupied substantial visual weight; to highlight the pink paw pads, I tested several hand gestures, ultimately finding that facing the palm forward with fingers gently spread looked most natural. While the air conditioner and wall outlet in the background weren't intentionally hidden, they didn't distract under shallow depth of field, instead adding an authentic touch of everyday life. Judging from these initial selfies, the atmosphere is already spot on. The rest of the official set is still being retouched slowly, as the lighting and styling nuances require patient polishing.
