[Okita Souji cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Bakumatsu Maid Duo: When Japanese Style Clashes with Blades

The official shoot of our Bakumatsu maid duo is finally here! Together with my partner @Shiina, we put together a maid-themed cosplay featuring Okita Souji cosplay and Kawakami Gensai cosplay from Fate/Grand Order. To fulfill this dream before summer break came to an end, we began preparing the costumes, wigs, and props well in advance. Pairing Japanese-style tops with heavily ruffled white aprons and katana blades, our goal was to deliver a visual blend of historical depth alongside the gap-moe charm of a maid aesthetic.

The shoot went extraordinarily well on the day, and special thanks go to our photographers @矢吹翼 and @无语fiven, who have an incredible eye for composition. The vintage wooden wainscoting, warm amber sconces, and black-and-white checkered floors were all put to great use. From casual mirror selfies in the washroom to intense confrontations by the window holding our katana swords, every framing was packed with visual tension. Immense credit also goes to @铁板鱿鱼人 and @水銀燈燈, who acted as our indispensable assistants—smoothing out skirt hemlines and adjusting props so we could maintain our best shape before the camera.

Speaking of costume details, the design was truly thoughtful. The white Japanese-style tops with red trims paired with deep navy outer haori, matched with long black leather sleeves and a red-sheathed katana, struck an ingenious balance between traditional Japanese and Western maid wear. The ruffled maid elements softened the sharpness of the blades, perfectly embodying that unique vibe of Maid Supremacism we were aiming for. Although moving around with long underskirts while brandishing swords restricted our range of motion, the guidance from our photographers yielded breathtaking results. The Polaroid snapshots captured plenty of cute moments too, where hand-drawn doodles and stickers documented our joyful memories.

Completing this Bakumatsu maid cosplay alongside everyone was an exceptional experience. From the intricate maid details to the stern aura of the katana, everything came together seamlessly during the shoot. This was far more than a simple photoshoot—it was an expression of our take on the characters that deepened my appreciation for the Bakumatsu aesthetic. I hope to experiment with even more diverse character styles in the future and bring you all more quality content. This set is just the first drop, and more outdoor shots will be released soon!
