Shooting Phoebe today—the sheer magnificence of this costume is definitely worth documenting in detail. The layering of the overall look is remarkably strong: the wide-brimmed white hat is huge and has substantial weight when worn; the blue cross-shaped hairpin on the bangs contrasts nicely with the thin black ribbon cascading down the side. The wig is light-golden long straight hair tied at the ends with a black-and-white striped ribbon, requiring meticulous care to keep it sleek and smooth. In terms of attire, a white long coat over a dark pleated skirt with golden stripes is draped with a grand blue cape bearing intricate gold patterns, paired below with White stockings and white mid-calf boots, looking both elegant and capable.
The shoot was set in an all-white indoor studio featuring a white grand piano, carved sofa, and Roman pillars. To match the ambiance, we prepared dessert stands, teacups, a long staff, and a white birdcage. While these props look stunning, they test coordination during the actual shoot. For instance, holding the staff in one hand while balancing a teacup or carrying the birdcage with the other—combined with the weight of the costume—required my core to remain engaged throughout without slackening, or the pose wouldn't convey the right sense of effortless lightness.
The camera used this time was a Fujifilm X-H2 paired with the XF 16-55mm lens. The indoor lighting was very bright with soft diffused light, which is ideal for capturing subtle layers of white garments without overexposure, while preserving the delicate texture of fabrics and gold borders. The 16-55mm focal range proved extremely practical indoors: shooting half-body close-ups at the 35-55mm end effectively compressed space to highlight facial and costume details, while pulling back to 16-24mm for full-body shots brought in the white piano and sofa backdrop for a richer narrative feel. Fujifilm's straight-out-of-camera color science beautifully reproduced the high saturation of the blue cape while keeping skin tones luminous and translucent. Keeping the aperture between f/2.8 and f/4 ensured sharpness on the face while providing gentle background blur to make the subject pop.
Speaking of Wuthering Waves, players often joke about endless wire-connecting puzzles and tireless manual labor, but the game's art design is truly top-tier. Phoebe possesses a distinctive serenity as a 2D Game cosplay character. During the shoot, that voice line kept echoing in my mind: "Rover, as long as there is light in our hearts, we need not fear how dark the path ahead may be." To channel that sentiment, I kept my expressions gentle, pairing them with chin-resting gestures, thoughtful gazes, or lightly touching my lips, conveying that quiet inner strength through my eyes.
Although the entire shoot demanded considerable stamina—especially maintaining an elegant posture while wearing such elaborate gear—seeing the frames materialize on the camera screen with each shutter click brought a tremendous sense of accomplishment. From tailoring details to prop placement and lighting transitions, everything matched our vision. The garment textures showed up wonderfully on camera, and the contrast of blue and white stood out strikingly against the pure white setting. It was a thoroughly fulfilling Game cosplay shoot with great synergy across every step from set dressing to final delivery.
