For this shoot of Xishi's Poetic Rain in Jiangnan skin from Honor of Kings, I deliberately selected a classical garden featuring a traditional Chinese moon gate. Morning sunlight filtered through the foliage onto the arched entrance and flagstone paths; the shifting interplay of light and shadow was ideal for highlighting the texture of this attire. The top incorporates classic mandarin stand collars and frog closures, with its white satin base fabric casting a delicate sheen under the sun. The sleeves feature translucent bell-shaped cuts edged with pleated pink ruffles, lending a breezy, weightless look to the arms in motion. The skirt transitions in a white-to-blue gradient, with deep blue water-ripple motifs printed along the hemline and layered over a white lace underskirt, creating rich dimensional tiers as I walked.

To faithfully mirror the character design, I styled my hair into twin low braids accented at the base by lustrous blue ring-shaped hair ornaments. The pastel pink booklet held in hand formed a crisp, striking chromatic contrast against the overarching blue-and-white palette. Since the underlying narrative speaks of fleeting encounters and unfulfilled bonds, I kept my posing quiet, reserved, and introspective: one hand gently brushing a hair ornament while the other cradled the book against my chest, casting gazes either toward the lens or drifting in contemplation. Standing centered within the moon gate utilized this natural architectural frame to anchor visual focus, while background greenery, rockeries, and autumnal red foliage accentuated the character's ethereal presence.

Throughout the session, I continuously adjusted my posture to showcase the clean silhouette of the ensemble. Photo 2 adopted a wider shot to incorporate the surrounding balustrades and wooden pillars—even capturing the soft specular highlights across the lacquered wood—which effectively established the tranquil Jiangnan garden ambiance. Strolling through the courtyard, one could genuinely feel the airy flutter of the gossamer chiffon in the gentle breeze. As a cosplayer, every portrayal deepens my understanding of the character. Structurally infused with classical Chinese elements, the garment requires meticulous smoothing to avoid distracting creases. Because the skirt is long, lightly lifting the hem while walking was essential to prevent stepping on the fabric. This serene mood resonated harmoniously with Xishi's innate demeanor. The entire shoot was a study in harnessing natural illumination; avoiding the harsh overexposure of midday sun, I chose the slanted morning rays to retain rich shadow textures. From the cohesive styling to the carefully chosen venue, every detail was tuned to evoke that distinctive, poetic charm of a misty Jiangnan water town.
