This time, I'm sharing Hoshino's casual outfit styling from Blue Archive.
Let's first talk about the overall styling and pairing. Hoshino's pink short hair is visually very recognizable. To restore that fluffy yet slightly messy feeling, I deliberately retained the layers at the sideburns when trimming the wig to modify the face shape. The iconic halo on top of the head, along with the matching cat ears, required many bobby pins to be fixed onto the wig net during wearing. It wasn't lightweight, and I had to constantly adjust the angle during the shoot to ensure it wouldn't expose any flaws from any viewing angle. The contact lenses were chosen in a high-saturation bright blue, matched with pink-toned eyeshadow and highlighting on the lower eyelid aegyo-sal, to create that lazy yet captivating cat-like gaze.
In terms of clothing, I chose a loose white off-the-shoulder top with a small pink cat paw logo on the chest, paired with red athletic shorts. This wide-top, narrow-bottom styling tests the tension of actions greatly. To match this styling, I wore pure white over-the-knee stockings on the lower body. The texture of the white stockings looks very soft under indoor warm light, but they are very prone to reflecting light or wrinkling during shooting, so adjusting the height of the sock cuffs before shooting was crucial. The sitting posture in the second photo—with legs spread to both sides and arms extended—is actually very tiring; it requires core engagement to keep the upper body upright, so that the leg lines can be visually elongated to the maximum extent, allowing the contours of the white stockings and leg muscles to be better presented.
A lot of thought was also put into props and scene setup. To echo the character's cat attributes, I prepared a birthday cake covered with fresh strawberries. In the first photo, I sat cross-legged on the carpet, holding the cake with both hands and slightly lowering my head; that angle actually required sinking the shoulders to capture a submissive, clingy feeling. The wooden storage rack in the background, the white bed sheets, and the wooden guitar casually placed on the bed were all real indoor settings without deliberate studio construction, aiming to create an everyday, warm sense of living.
In terms of controlling the details of actions, the focus of this set of photos lies in the gaze and limbs. The core of a cat-like character lies in casual relaxation. Holding the cake in the first photo is restrained obedience, while spreading the arms in the second photo feels more like the relaxation of waiting to be held. Throughout the shooting process, I kept searching for that state of being slightly careless yet completely trusting the lens. The pairing of white stockings provided a great visual landing point in both shots, preventing the entire frame from looking too plain due to the white top on the upper body. The overall makeup, costume matching, and scene selection were all meant to present a vivid, warm Hoshino in front of the lens. This is also the state I always pursue in cosplay shooting—not just wearing the clothes, but experiencing the character through actions and details.
