[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive Cheongsam Cosplay Captured at ChinaJoy Before the Storm

I've finally organized the finished photos from the set we rushed to shoot just before the storm hit ChinaJoy. Looking at the torrential rain warnings on the weather forecast back then made me anxious, but luckily the photographer was fast. The two of us were practically racing against the storm clouds outdoors, managing to wrap up shooting the main scenes right before the downpour started.

This time, I took on Misaki from Blue Archive, and honestly, the styling has so many intricate details. The centerpiece is this dark blue cheongsam cosplay, crafted from silk-like fabric with a subtle sheen that reveals delicate gloss and jacquard patterns under the diffuse light of an overcast sky. The golden dragon embroidery on the chest and waist serves as the visual focus of the upper body, complemented by the bright cyan frog buttons at the collar, creating a color scheme that feels both dignified and traditionally opulent. For props, I meticulously prepared a red-and-black sniper rifle and a black briefcase; holding these gear items truly maximized the character's crisp, decisive aura.

What tested me the most during the shoot was actually the tailored cut of the cheongsam. The high side slit and open-back design visually accentuated my figure, cleanly tracing out the waist and shoulder-back lines. However, this also meant pulling off expansive poses outdoors was quite physically demanding, especially while maintaining an upright posture in high heels with a black tights outfit for an extended period. Still, seeing the elongated leg lines accentuated by the black tights in the final shots made every bit of effort worth it. The patent leather high heels with red soles also served as a striking highlight in the sitting close-ups.

The hairstyle and hair ornaments were crucial to completing the look. I styled the classic symmetrical double buns paired with her signature crescent-shaped hair accessory, leaving ultra-long straight hair flowing behind. It was quite windy that day, and when the long strands billowed in the breeze, combined with that calm yet sharp gaze directed at the camera, it perfectly embodied the character's typical cool and detached demeanor. For makeup, rather than using overly vivid colors, I emphasized the structure of the eye makeup to give the gaze a sharper focus.

Since we shot this right before the event, elements of the venue and surrounding greenery are visible in the background. The soft lighting from the overcast sky was exceptionally forgiving, free of the harsh shadows caused by direct sunlight, allowing the folds of the outfit and the three-dimensional depth of the props to be presented softly. For this set to come together so smoothly, special thanks must go to photographer bb棉发糖, who captured every shot with pinpoint precision under the impending pressure of the storm warning, pressing the shutter in perfect sync before the storm hit. Rushing, changing outfits, and chasing the light—everything wrapped up within two hours, and looking back, it remains an exhilarating shooting experience.
